   Sam and Kat broke up.

   Understandably so.

Katrina's choice was made after she realized all her boyfriend can think about is Colby. She has no place in Sam's mind, despite obviously owning a spot in the blonde's heart. Sadly for her, she came to the realization that Sam isn't in love with her. He loves her but not the way she loves him. So she decided to end it. It hurt more than anything, all she's done lately is try to get Sam's attention, which he is already putting on his best friend. She deserves better, she knows it, so she left him.

When she broke the news to him, Sam wasn't as devastated as he thought he'd be. On the contrary, he felt relieved. He felt free, as much as saying it made him look like an asshole, but he was aware that he wasn't treating Katrina the way she deserved to be treated and he felt trapped in the relationship. However he didn't have the heart and the time to end things with her before so he was glad she did it herself.

Colby, on the other hand, couldn't feel better at the thought of Sam and Katrina not being together anymore. Although he can't say it straight to Sam's face because he would be a bad friend for doing so, he loves having Kat out of the way. Call him selfish, but that way he's sure to have Sam all to himself and god does it make him happy. Even more since the boy doesn't seem fazed by the situation.

   "Hey, bud."

Colby looks up at the sound of Sam's voice, a faint smile instantly tugging at his lips. He rolls onto his side and watches as Sam walks over to his bed, expecting the blonde to climb on it. Instead, Sam crouches next to the bed so that his head is at the same level as Colby's and he smiles sweetly at the boy. He reaches up to stroke his cheek slowly, causing the brunette to close his eyes contently.

"Jake wanted to know if you'd be down to hang out with us ? He found a cool place to explore and we thought it could be a good way to get your mind off things."

Colby's blue eyes open and meet Sam's as he loses himself in his thoughts. Is he even capable of exploring like he used to ? Does he have the strength for it ? He has so many questions, but only one to ask Sam.

"Are you gonna film it ?"

Sam shakes his head frantically, his eyes widening a bit and he wonders if Colby really thinks the blonde would put YouTube before his best friend. Sam couldn't care less about their channel right now, the fans already know they're on a break and even though he's thankful for all of them and their support, it's going to stay that way until Colby is better. His well-being is more important for Sam than anything else.

"Of course not. It's just the three of us, no camera."

Just like the good ol' days.

Grinning at that thought, Colby nods his head and weakly sits up. A yawn escapes his lips before he throws his legs over the edge of the bed and rises on his feet, earning an encouraging smile from Sam. The blonde then lets him know he'll be waiting for him downstairs while he gets dressed and when he's done, Colby joins Sam and Jake in the living room. He notices how Jake's face lights up in a childlike manner when he spots him and he plops down next to him on the couch.

"Ready ?" Jake asks excitedly, already jumping on his feet and making his friends laugh slightly.

Poor Jake has felt quite lonely lately.  Of course, he's hung out with Corey and Aaron but he missed being with Sam and Colby like they used to do all the time a few months ago. He wouldn't say it out loud though, to avoid making the duo feel bad and he understands that whatever Colby's through is definitely not easy.

Soon enough they're in Jake's car and driving out of their driveway, Colby in the passenger seat and Sam sitting behind him in the back seat. Sam's hand is playing with the hair on the back of Colby's neck absentmindedly while the blonde's talking and laughing with Jake, stealing glances at his best friend every now and then.

Once they finally reach their destination, the boys take in the appearance of the building. It's a simple old abandoned apartment complex with no history, nothing to freak out about. However the fact that the three of them are finally spending time together is the reason why all of their hearts flutter happily at the sight.

"Let's go, boyzzzzzzz !" Jake says cheerfully and climbs out of his car, soon followed by Sam and Colby as he starts walking towards what they'd call the 'bando'.

Sam looks to the side as they walk to see Colby looking half-happy, half-scared. Colby can't help thinking that he can't do it, there are so many floors and knowing Sam and Jake, they probably want to go up to the roof, no matter how unsafe it is. But Colby ? He's too weak to do it. Even just walking makes his legs shake, going up so many stairs is going to kill him.

As if he's read Colby's mind, Sam gently grabs his hand, tugging him closer to him.

"Hey, we can go home whenever you want to, okay ?"

Sam's words send a wave of determination through Colby's body and the brunette smiles, nodding his head and squeezing Sam's hand.

And so they go, and they explore, and they feel as though nothing's changed, even if Sam has to help Colby from time to time and Jake has to reassure the brunette, saying that it doesn't matter how long they take to get to the top and it doesn't matter if they don't even get to the top. All that matters to Sam and Jake is having Colby by their side, and all that matters to Colby is Sam's hand in his and the smiles Jake keeps sending him.

All that matters is the moment they're sharing right now.
