Anw man, I really wish I could go to Playlist to meet the boys (as well as some other creators) but I'd literally need to cross a fricking ocean to go ):
Anyway, enjoy (:

Sam and Colby haven't argued in a long, long time, and it would've stayed that way if there wasn't this one thing that's been bugging the both of them but is often swept under the rug.
"Come on, Sam, you've already seen her like, three times this week already."
Colby hates whining but he can't help being selfish, he couldn't stand watching his best friend walk out the door yet again to go hang out with his girlfriend. Neither of them knows what's gotten into Katrina but lately, she's been with Sam all the time. Colby knows that if the blonde leaves again, there's no chance for him to be back before the next day.
"Of course, she's my girlfriend, bro." Sam replies in a matter-of-fact tone, slightly cringing at the last word.
"And I'm your best friend."
Sam rolls his eyes, crossing his arms over his chest to show his annoyance to the brunette.
"We're so not doing this right now."
"You literally came home this morning and you're already leaving again." Colby mutters, his eyes going everywhere but on Sam.
He's exhausted and in desperate need of comfort, he just wants to go to bed but he knows he can't fall asleep without Sam. However he doesn't tell him that, he can't make the blonde feel guilty for something none of them can really control.
"Colby, you'll be fine."
Sam's voice sounds stern as he grows more annoyed at the other's childish behavior, there's nothing he hates more than when Colby's immature side shows up.
"How can you be so sure of that ?"
The words leave Colby's mouth before his mind tells them to, but he doesn't bother to take them back. Thoughts race through Sam's mind, is Colby serious right now ? The boy's biggest fear is for Colby to hurt himself in any way, which is the worst that can happen if the brunette's left alone. The thing is, Katrina and Sam are dating, that means they have to spend time together. How else are they supposed to maintain their relationship ?
Sam groans. "Don't be so overdramatic."
Colby's eyes widen, he can't believe Sam. He thought that out of all people, he'd be the one to understand. Sam is aware of how bad the situation is and up until this day, he's done nothing but try his best to help his best friend. So why is he suddenly belittling Colby's distress ?
"Are you serious, Sammy ?"
Usually Sam would smile at the nickname. Today, he doesn't because it's clearly Colby's attempt to get to him.
"Colby, you're not gonna die because I'm gone for a few nights. It's happened before."
Yes, before everything went downhill...
Somehow that's enough to trigger something in Colby and cause him to just... burst.
"For fuck's sake, can't you see that I need you ?! I'm not being overdramatic, I'm trying to make you realize that you're what's holding me up, Sam ! But obviously you'd rather hang out with Katrina and watch me slowly but surely fall apart."
Sam stares at Colby in disbelief, watching as thick tears cascade down the boy's cheeks. He almost reaches up to wipe them away, the sight breaking his heart but he stops himself just in time. Instead he speaks up, his voice as loud as Colby's.
"I can't always be there for you !" He lowers his voice after noticing how the other male winces at the volume. " I... I deserve to breathe too, okay ?"
Colby scoffs, wiping at his cheeks furiously with his sleeves but ending up covering his face when he realizes his tears aren't stopping any time soon. Sam needs to get out to 'breathe' while Colby needs Sam to do so. How ironic. The brunette's breathing heavily, his cries turn into sobs quickly but he tries his best to hide them by keeping his hands on his face.
"Just- Just g-go."
Pushing past the slightly pissed-off yet concerned blonde, he hurries up the stairs and into his room, slamming and locking his door behind him. He throws himself onto his bed and curls up into a ball, pathetic sobs leaving his mouth. Sam has basically just told him that spending time with him is so tiring that he needs a break, meanwhile the only break Colby gets is when Sam is by his side, holding him close and shutting up the voices in his head.
He stays in that position for hours, even after the front door is slammed shut, even after Corey comes knocking on his door to check if he's okay. He's not but he can't tell Corey that, so he just doesn't answer. His friend would probably just assume that he's sleeping. He stays like that because he has nothing to do, his tears have stopped, his cheeks have dried. Aaron's yells echo through the house, he hears Jake come home from hanging out with a friend and Corey from picking Devyn up. All this noise seems so far away, as if he wasn't even in the same house as them. He doesn't move when the sun starts rising and when Sam's car pulls up in the driveway a few hours later. Nor when the blonde knocks gently on the door, trying to get his best friend to talk, body filled with guilt.
He's a burden, he doesn't deserve Sam's attention.
So he stays silent.
Unfortunately for him, Sam is even more stubborn than him and decides to sit in the hallway until Colby comes out.
No matter how long he takes.
