   "FUCK !"

Sam's hands suddenly freeze as a loud bang is heard from the room next to the one he's in. It doesn't take long for him to toss the towel he's been drying his hair to the ground and rush out of the bathroom, opening Colby's bedroom door without hesitation. He's greeted by the sight of Colby, sitting on his bed, clutching his hand to his chest as he quietly whimpers. The voices got the best of him again.

Rushing to his side, Sam slowly climb onto the bed and reaches for the brunette's wrist. Colby, who's been too focused on the pain in his knuckles to have heard his best friend walk in, jumps away, before his eyes meet Sam's and he instantly relaxes. The blonde notices the way Colby's holding his hand and there's no doubt in his mind that the bang he's heard was him punching the wall.

"Why did you do that ?" He asks in a voice as gentle as possible.

His hand reaches up to stroke Colby's cheek slowly, his warm eyes diving into the brunette's icy ones. Colby takes a shaky breath in, shaking his head slightly as his eyes drop to his bruised hand.

   "They never leave me alone."

It takes a moment for Sam to understand what Colby means, and when he finally does a sigh escapes his lips.

"How about we get you out of here, huh ?"

The blonde knows the only way to get his best friend out of his own mind is to drag him out of the room he keeps himself in. He's sure that seeing the same four walls all day and night can't do any good.

Colby stubbornly shakes his head again, he doesn't want to go outside. Actually, he doesn't want to do anything other than lay in bed and wrap himself in his covers. It's the only way he feels protected, especially when Sam's there too, his arms tightly circling Colby's waist.

   "Colby."

Sam's voice is more stern but still soft, and it causes the brunette to look up at him. Sam doesn't like forcing the broken boy to do something but he knows it's for the best, and hopefully Colby will realize that once they step outside. He desperately needs some fresh air, maybe a bit of sun too and a distraction, but he's not going to admit that after refusing Sam's offer. However, he comes to the conclusion that he has no choice anyway.

Sighing, he watches as Sam gets on his feet and extends his hand for Colby's to hold, to which he obliges. After quickly wrapping Colby's bruised hand with gauze, the brunette slides his good hand in Sam's again and their fingers intertwine naturally as they walk out of Colby's room and down the stairs. They don't even let go when they have to put on their shoes. Call them weird but ever since the kiss, it's like they're even less scared to show affection towards each other. They're not official, they're not even dating. No label, just two boys who love each other with their whole heart and soul.

As soon as the front door opens, a warm breeze caresses the boys' cheeks and it immediately causes Sam to smile, Colby's lips soon matching the blonde's. He can't resist the urge to place a kiss on Sam's cheek, resting his forehead on the boy's shoulder afterwards.

   "Brothers !"

Colby lifts his head at the familiar voice right when Sam waves at Brennen with his free hand. The smile on Colby's lips grows a bit wider at the sight of his other best friend, who he hasn't seen in so long he can't even remember the last time they hung out.

Brennen hesitates for a moment, but after Sam motions him over, the brown-haired boy walks over to them and pulls the both of them into a hug. Sam lets out a giggle and hugs him back, wapping an arm around him and the other around Colby, who does the same with his two best friends. He's received many hugs lately - other than Sam's - and he has to admit that it never ceases to make his empty heart slightly fuller. No matter what, he's still a sucker for physical affection from the people he loves, especially when he's going through a hard time.

The trio pulls away and Brennen rests his hand on Colby's shoulder, almost wincing at the feeling of the boy's shoulder blade under his touch. They stand in silence for a couple minutes before Sam speaks.

"We're about to go drive around for a bit, wanna join ?"

Brennen accepts within a heartbeat and soon enough, the three boys are sitting in Brennen's car, since it's definitely bigger than Sam's, music blasting from the speakers as Sam and Brennen sing along while Colby's gently bopping his head to the rhythm, sat in the passenger seat. His friends are awful singers, but he can see the huge smiles on their faces and it doesn't fail to cheer him up. On top of that, Sam's playing with the baby hair on the back of his head and although it tickles a bit, it also manages to soothe him.

After a while of driving around with no destination, Brennen pulls up in the parking lot of a grocery store, explaining that he's hungry. After the boys assure him that they don't need anything, he disappears inside the store while Sam and Colby lean on the hood of his car, watching as the sun sets behind the buildings in front of them. They sit in silence, enjoying the sight until a voice calls their names from the side, followed by a "oh my god, it's them !"

   Fans.

It's been a while since they last encountered a supporter.

Colby's almost tempted to run. He looks awful, with the dark circles under his eyes and his usual tan skin now as pale as Sam's. It looks good on the blonde, but on Colby, it just looks like he's sick. He doesn't want his viewers to see him like that.

The girl and the boy, obviously excited to accidentally meet their two favorite youtubers, almost run to the duo and jump up and down once they're standing in front of them. Sam gives them both a welcoming smile, that Colby tries to copy but it results in a small grin that barely reaches his eyes.

To avoid any awkward silence, Sam asks for the fans' name and they tell him happily. Skyler and Tommy. They seem to be between 16-18 years old and look like they could be siblings. They make small talk, Colby trying his best to participate although he just wants to disappear underground.

And his heart sinks in his chest when the words he's dreaded to hear reach his ears.

"Can we take a selfie ?" The girl asks eagerly, the biggest smile on her face when her brother's finished praising the boys.

"Of course."

The girl stands on Sam's left, holding her phone up while Tommy stands on Colby's right. Sam quickly gives Colby a reassuring smile before turning his head towards the phone and sticking his tongue out, as always. Colby, on the other hand, forces himself to simply give a close-mouthed smile, resting his chin on Sam's shoulder out of habit. Once the picture's taken, the fans quickly thank them before walking away, stars sparkling in their eyes because they can't believe they've just met their idols.

"Hey."

Colby tears his gaze away from them at Sam's voice, looking over at his best friend with furrowed eyebrows. The blonde playfully taps the brunette's nose, earning a small laugh from the boy just like he's wanted.

"Turn that frown upside down, you look cuter when you smile."

And Colby takes the opportunity to reply :

"Give me a hug, you look cuter in my arms."

Sam shakes his head at his best friend's adorable pout and does as he's told, lacing his arms around the other male's waist and bringing him closer.

"It doesn't rhyme." [so ... GO HOME]

Colby scoffs, nuzzling his nose in Sam's soft hair. "Well, I'm no poet."

"It was still cute though."
