You woke up in the middle of the night, being startled by the sound of some glass being shattered downstairs. Your heart dropped. You were the only one home. Jacob, your boyfriend, was currently in Arizona on tour, while you were still at the house.

You got out of bed as quickly as possible, being as quiet as you could. You didn't know who was downstairs. Maybe they had a weapon. You definitely didn't want to die tonight, so your best bet was to stay silent.

You tip-toed over to the door, immediately closing it slowly. It's a good thing your house was fairly new, so there were no creaky boards or squeaky doors. You shut the door silently, turning the small lock on the handle.

You grabbed your phone from the night stand, running to the closet. Your heart was racing. You couldn't believe this was happening. You sat down in the corner of the pitch- black closet, turning on your phone. Your lock screen showed up, a picture of Jacob kissing you on the cheek. The time displayed that it was 1:13 am.

Your first instinct was to call Jacob. You brought the phone to your ear, heating it ring. Finally, he answered. "Hello?" Jacob's voice on the other end was raspy. "J-Jacob?" You stuttered. You could barely speak as fear took over your body.

"Y/n? Is everything okay?" Jacob's tone was filled with worry. You fought back the urge to cry. "There's someone in the house." You said.
"What?" He gasped.

You nodded, but then realized he couldn't see you. "Someone is downstairs. I'm upstairs hiding in the closet in our room." Your breathing was quick. "Baby, stay put and don't get off the phone with me. I'll use Tony's phone to call the police." Jacob demanded.

It was quiet as Jacob went to find Tony's phone. You could hear the sound of heavy footsteps downstairs. They were heading for the staircase. You squeezed your eyes shut, letting a single tear fall down your face. You were scared out of your mind. You didn't know what to do.

"Y/n, are you still there?" Jacob spoke on the other line. You took a deep breath. "Yeah, I'm here." You swallowed the lump in your throat. "The police are on their way. They said they should arrive in ten minutes. Is that okay?" Jacob asked in concern.

By now, you could hear the footsteps going up the stairs. The person was walking slowly, each step creating a loud thud. "I-I don't know, Jacob." Your voice was at a whisper. "They're coming upstairs. I can hear them."

"Just, just stay put. Don't make any noise unless you have to talk to me." Jacob's voice cracked as he spoke softly. You could tell that he was probably crying, just as you were.

The footsteps reached the top of the steps. The person moved slowly down the hallway. You could hear their each and every move. For a robber, they weren't being very discreet. They were so loud. The door of the room next to the one you were in burst open, slamming against the wall.

You pulled your knees against your chest tighter, tears streaming down your face. "Jacob, I'm scared." You sobbed at a whisper. "It's okay, baby girl. Police will be there soon now. Hold tight." Jacob tried to calm you, although you could hear the fear in his voice.

You could hear the intruder pushing open drawers and rummaging through them. The room they were in was your guest bedroom, and there weren't a lot of valuables in there that you figured they would want to steal.

The thud of footsteps left the guest room and back into the hallway. The painfully slow waking noise reached the outside of the door of your bedroom. "Jacob, they're here! They're outside the door!" You whispered, a feeling of terror taking over your entire body.

"Stay put, baby. Don't move." He commanded. The doorknob jiggled, but didn't open because it was locked. It was silent for a moment, until your heard a loud bang on the door. You jumped, being startled by the sound. Whoever was outside was trying to kick down the door.

The pounding continued as you silently sobbed in the corner of the pitch black closet. "I love you, Jacob." You sniffed quietly. "I love you so much more, y/n. It's going to be okay." Jacob said. As soon as he uttered the sentence, the door crashed off of its hinges.

The door dropped to the floor, the loud thud making you almost jump out of your skin. This is it. I'm going to die tonight, you thought to yourself. The heavy footsteps entered the room. Each thud was painfully slow. It was like a scene straight out of a horror movie.

The person approached your dresser. You heard them slide open the drawer roughly. They rummaged through the clothes, in search of anything to steal. Time seemed to move in slow motion as they opened each drawer and searched its contents.

Finally, the footsteps continued. They were coming in the direction of the closet. Your heart pounded and your face went numb. Right outside of the door, the footsteps stopped. If that person decided to slide open the closet door, you would surely be spotted. That would be the end of your life as your know it.

"Y/n," Jacob whispered through the phone, so quietly that you could barely even hear him, "Don't you dare move a fucking muscle."

You held your breath and your whole body went stiff. Suddenly, the sound of someone breaking open the door downstairs was heard. "Police!" A deep voice shouted from the first floor, along with more running.

"Shit." The person outside the door mumbled, turning away and running out of the room. You let out a long sigh, tears streaming out of your eyes. "Y/n?" Jacob asked in fear. "Are they gone?"

You gulped. "Yeah. Police are here." You stated. Jacob let out a sigh of relief. "Don't leave the closet until you're sure they're out of the house. You sniffed your nose and wiped away your tears. "Okay."

"God, y/n, I'm so glad you're okay." Jacob said, and you could tell that he was crying. "I don't know what I would do if you ever got hurt." You just sighed in response. There were no more noises in the house, so you finally stood up and left the closet.

You saw clothes scattered all over the room, along with the door laying on the floor, torn off the hinges. You went over to the window and pulled back the curtains.

There he was. The intruder, handcuffed and being stuffed into the back of a police car. You didn't recognize the person. A police officer looked up at the window and saw you. He flashed you a small smile and gave you a reassuring nod. A grin formed on your face.

"Jacob," You said. "Yeah?" He responded.
"I-I'm Okay." You breathed
a sigh of relief.
