I hung around at the church for a while. Read some Bible stories, talked to the pastor and some other people. It was nice.
After church I kept walking a little. While I was walking, my phone finally rang! It was Lindsey of course!
She asked if I wanted to hang out so we met at the park closest to her house. It took me about an hour to walk there from where I was.
We talked a lot.
"I wish I could run away like you did. But I have Malory to take care of. I can't just leave her." Said Lindsey. Malory was her little sister.
"Just take her with you. We can both take care of her." I said, proud of my idea.
"It's not that simple Jessie. You know that. If I take her with my parents would go looking for her and we could never go back home. My parents would kill me. It just wouldn't end well at all."
"Oh yeah.... True." I said a little glumly.
"Hey I got 10 bucks, wanna go to Starbucks while we think about this?" Lindsey said.
"Sure" I replied and off we went.
"What if we send your parents somewhere to distract them so we can get Malory?" I said.
"That's a good idea! But where?"
"Maybe we can send them a fake letter saying they won a trip to somewhere in North America? So they go to the airport and when the people there say they don't have their tickets that they didn't win anything they'll freak out and won't be back for a while."
"Okay, okay. I like where you're going with this. Hmm. Lets start writing it."
