"Mama"
I laugh lightly, parking the car and getting out. I go over to his side, taking him out of the car seat and placing him on my hip. "Ready to see gamma?"
He looks at me, his face blank.
"Okay." I nod, laughing to myself while walking to the front door and knocking a few times.
The door soon opens, revealing my mother smiling widely. "Hello! Hello!"
"Hey mom." I grin, walking in and closing the door before looking at Brayden who stares at my mom and smiles before looking at me. "Who is that!? Is that gamma?!"
He smiles wider, leaning and reaching for my mother.
"Hi baby!" she says, grabbing him from me.
We go to the living room and she hands him a toy, setting him on the floor with it and sitting behind him as I sit on the couch.
"So, how's everything been?" she asks, looking up at me as he starts to play.
I cough a little, licking my lips. "It's okay. I wanted to talk to you though."
"About what? You never told me what happened with that woman that showed up."
"Oh, right. That was Kameron and Elena's mom, actually."
She gasps. "What?"
I nod. "Yeah, she wanted the kids. In fact, now their going to court for them. She wants full custody and for Justin to only have visitation."
My mother makes a face. "That won't happen. She's crazy."
I laugh lightly. "You've got that right. Not to mention Justin's already got Kameron and Elena accepted into a school here. Their lives are basically set up right here. They're attached to him and me. It would be cruel to snatch them out of the life their comfortable in."
She nods. "You're absolutely right. They both call you mom. They might as well be your children!"
I grin, nodding. "I know. I mean, I've already helped throw a birthday party for Elena. Next is Brayden's then Kameron's. Speaking of, I wanted to talk to you about Brayden's party too."
She nods. "Got it. I just think it's absolutely insane that she's trying to take those poor kids away from their father, who, may I add, has raised them because she failed to do so!"
I sigh. "I know. It's ridiculous. Honestly, in my opinion she has no right to do this. She's their mother but she's not their mom. There's a difference."
My mother sighs. "I completely agree. If anyone is their mom it's you."
"Or Mama Lee." I shrug.
My mom shakes her head. "No, they know she's not their mom."
I grin, nodding. "Yeah, you're right. I mean, it's crazy. When those kids call me mommy or mama. It's the best feeling in the world. Nothing compared to Brayden saying it because, well, I gave birth to him. But, still, I can't imagine anything being better than that."
She smiles. "That's when you know you're a mother. When you feel like nothing can compare to being a mom."
I nod. "I love it. I can't believe my baby boy is going to be one year old in less than a month!"
Brayden smiles up at me, giggling just as I do before starting to play again.
"But you and Justin are okay? Justin's doing good with everything going on?"
