Your Smile

(A/N): I honestly have no idea what I'm doing. I've never done this before, so if it's cringey I apologise.

L's Pov

(Y/N) hasn't been as happy as I normally see her. She's usually so bubbly and enthusiastic. But now, she's lost all that and is just really focused on the Kira case. It's great to see her working so hard, but she hasn't been sleeping a lot and she has really dark circles under her eyes. Almost as dark as mine. I'm just a little worried about her health and I want to see her happy again. Her smile is so beautiful and it really brightens up the taskforce.

(Y/N)'s Pov

Just another ordinary day at the taskforce. I walked into the building to find everyone staring at me.

"What?!" I ask. Everyone hesitantly goes back to work and I sit down at my seat next to L. I turn on my computer and wait for it to load up.

"Good morning (Y/N). I hope you had a decent sleep" L says to me, though he doesn't make eye contact with me.

"Not really" I say, not looking at him either. "I've had so much work to do that I can't afford to waste my time by going to sleep."

L turns his head to look at me. "That's no good" he says. "You need to get plenty of rest so you can keep up with the investigation. Lack of sleep can cause problems with your health and we don't want that to happen to you, (Y/N)."

"I don't care how ill I get" I say. "I just want Kira to be caught!"

"(Y/N), where did your beautiful smile go?" L asked. "I really liked it when you smiled. It really brightened things up here in the taskforce."

I looked away from my computer screen to look at L who was looking back at his computer screen.

"What happened to make your smile disappear?" L said.

He looked upset. Even though L was the emotionless type, I could see it in his eyes that he was worried about me.

I sighed.

"Alright. I'll tell you, if you really wanna know" I say turning my head back to my computer screen.

L looked straight at me. The taskforce stopped what they were doing to listen to what I had to say.

"The thing is...my parents were killed by Kira a few days ago" I started to say, tears forming in my eyes.

I looked around the room. Everyone was staring at me in shock.

No (Y/N)! You can't cry at work! I was trying so hard not to cry.

"That's horrible! Kira is so cold blooded!" Matsuda yelled.

"So, my dad started selling drugs, so I could see why Kira would go after him. But my mother did NOTHING!!! SHE DIDN'T DESERVE TO BE KILLED!!!" I couldn't hold it in anymore. I broke down crying.

"I'm sorry for your loss, (Y/N)" Light said to me. "Now we really must catch Kira as soon as we can!"

I was happy to hear that.

L rolled his chair over to me. Before I could say anything, he grabbed me and pulled me into a tight hug. I began sobbing into his shirt.

"Why didn't you say anything before?" L asked me, not letting me go.

"I didn't want my personal feelings to get involved in the case. That'll only bring us down!" I sobbed. "You even said it yourself that we can't allow personal feelings to get involved in the case!"

L's Pov

I was lost for words. I didn't know what to say. She was right. I didn't want personal feelings to get involved with a case like this. But, I never want to see (Y/N) upset. I want to see her smile again.

I let her go and stared into her eyes.

"Yes, that's correct. I do remember saying that" I began. "But, you haven't been sleeping well, and I'm pretty sure I heard your stomach growl showing that you have not eaten. You haven't been taking care of yourself and that made me worried. Next time, please tell me if there is anything bothering you. I want to help you."

She wiped away her tears.

"I will do what I can to see your smile, (Y/N)" I say and I smiled at her.

She started blushing. It's cute when she does that.

"Th-Thank you Ryuzaki..." she said.

And she smiled at me.

There it was. (Y/N)'s beautiful smile that I've missed. I haven't seen it in a while and it was so good to finally see it again. That smile that I would do anything to see.

"There's that smile I know and love" I say to her and I kiss her on the forehead. "Now! We must catch Kira! Back to work everyone!"

With that, everyone quickly got back to work.

"Alright! I'm totally motivated now! Let's bring Kira to justice!" I hear (Y/N) say.

"Oh no you don't" I say, picking her up. "You haven't slept in days. You need a lot of rest if you wanna catch Kira with us." I carry her upstairs into a spare room.

"But Ryuzaki!"

"No buts!" I say laying her down on the bed. "Rest first, then you can come back down and work with us."

"Well, I am actually quite tired..."

"Exactly. Now, I'll see you in the morning" I said kissing her cheek. I was about to walk away, but (Y/N) grabbed my arm.

"Please...Can you stay with me for a little while longer? Just until I fall asleep? I sometimes get nightmares about my parents. That's really why I haven't been sleeping much..." She looks me dead in the eyes. "Please Ryuzaki!"

"Alright. I guess I could stay for a bit" I say sitting down next to her.

"Thank you Ryuzaki. You are so kind to me" (Y/N) says to me before closing her eyes.

She kissed my cheek and fell into my lap, asleep. This caused me to have to sit normally. I really didn't like doing that, but I guess there was no one around to see. (Y/N) must have been really tired. She looks really cute when she's asleep.

I stroked her head. "Goodnight beautiful. I love you, and keep on smiling."
