(A/N): I just can't even make good titles! Help. 😅
(F/N)=Friend's Name.
(H/C)=Hair Colour
(F/S/S)=Favourite School Subject (If you have one)

You were stressed to the bone.
You had an English exam the next day and you were freaking out. L let you finish work early today so you could study in your room.

You were sitting at your desk with 3 textbooks and a notebook in front of you, wondering where to go next. Your eyes moving from each textbook to your notebook.

"How am I supposed to do this?!" you asked. You hated English. Nothing made any sense to you.

Soon, your phone rang. You answered it almost immediately.

"(Y/N)!!" (F/N) called down the phone.
"How are you?! What are you up to?!"

"I'm good. Just studying",you reply.
"I have my English exam tomorrow."

"Oh! I'm sorry (Y/N)!! I didn't mean to disturb you!" (F/N) says.

"It's alright. I'm not really getting anywhere with it though" you say, sighing.

"Man, I'm so glad I'm not doing any exams. I'm not smart enough" (F/N) says, laughing.

"Yeah, lucky you" you say back, sighing again.

"Yeah!" (F/N) laughs.

"You know something (F/N)?" You began. "Sometimes, I don't even understand why we do exams. To show our teachers how well we do? Shut up. We can only do what we can do. Every student is different and not all students are good at everything."

"It's simple really" (F/N) says. "You have to get good grades to actually get somewhere in your life! You can't just give that up, you know?! You have to study hard, (Y/N)!"

"I know that. But-"

"Cause if you don't study hard, and you fail important exams like English, people won't want to give you a job, and you will have no money and will be homeless! Your future depends on a piece of paper!" (F/N) laughed.

"Thanks for making me feel a whole lot better, (F/N)!" You shout at your friend.

"Hey (Y/N)! It was only a joke! It doesn't matter about your grades!"

You didn't care. You hung up and threw your phone at your bed.

You stared back at your work, (F/N)'s words echoing in your head.

And soon enough, you broke down crying. You grabbed your (H/C) hair and almost ripped it out!

"No matter how hard I study, I know it will never be good enough! I don't need anyone to remind me!" You yell through tears.

-Meanwhile, 1 floor below-

"Hey! Can you hear that?" Matsuda asked, looking at the ceiling.

"It sounds like screaming" Light said, concered.

"The only person up there is (Y/N)!" Misa shouted.

L got up out of his seat and ran up the stairs to your floor. He burst through the door, to find you curled up underneath your desk, crying your eyes out.

"(Y/N)?" He asked, looking at you, shocked.

"R-Ryuzaki?!" You panicked. You didn't want him to see you like this. You quickly scrambled out from underneath your desk and sat back on your seat so your back was to him.
"Sh-Shouldn't you be w-working?" You asked through sobs.

"I came to check on you. I heard you screaming" L said, walking over to your seat.

"I'm fine..." you say, not looking at him.

"(Y/N), you were crying! Screaming! You do realise you are only one floor above us. We can hear you."

You turned to face him. Tears streaming down your face.

"Is this about your exam tomorrow?" L asked, putting his hand on your shoulder.

You nodded.

L kneeled down so he was at your height.

"There's no need to stress yourself out, (Y/N)" he said softly.

"But, if I don't do well in my English exam, I won't get anywhere good in my life!" You say trying to hold back your tears.

L patted your head then stroked it.

"Listen (Y/N), it doesn't matter. If you stress yourself out, you will end up forgetting important things, and we don't want that. Try to relax. All you need to is try your very best, and I know you will do that tomorrow. You can only do what you can."

"B-But-"

"I know you are very good at (F/S/S). You could easily get any job involving that subject" L said to you.

"But English is a very important subject!" You yell at him.

"(Y/N), I didn't even go to school. I didn't do any exams and get good grades or anything. Now look at me." L smiled.

"You're the world's greatest detective!" You say, smiling.

"Exactly. It just goes to show, that you don't need good grades to be successful, and if anyone tells you otherwise, they are fools" L said to you. "Obviously, you still need to work hard, and I'm not telling you not to do well, you have to!"

You couldn't help but giggle at his statement.

"Thank you Ryuzaki" you say. "I feel much better now, thanks to you!"

"I'm just glad I can help" he replied.

You lean forward and kiss his cheek.
He was shocked and put his hand on the spot where you kissed him.
You swore you could see a little pink in his cheeks.

You giggle whilst blushing.

"Now, you should get some rest" L said, suddenly.

"Okay" you replied, and started packing away your books.

Once you got into bed, L kissed your forehead.

"You do your best tomorrow, (Y/N). I know you'll do well" he said. "Goodnight. We'll all be rooting for you here at the taskforce."

"Goodnight Ryuzaki! And thank you!" You reply, falling asleep.

You smiled in your sleep. He was right. All you could do was try your absolute best!

(A/N): For those of you who have exams or anything like that during the time that you are reading this, I just want to say not to stress yourself out. It'll cause you to forget things. Just relax and do your very best! I wish you good luck! 👍
