“Can we please just decide on a movie?” I groan, bending down to look at the collection of DVD’s below my large television. Michael and Calum are behind me sitting on the couch, and from the sounds of it already eating the pizza they picked up on the way over.
“Well I say we watch,” Michael starts, before Calum speaks up and totally interrupts him.
“No, we are not watching some chick flick again. I’m not going to do it. Let’s watch something manly like ‘The Lego Movie,’” he exclaims, running up behind me and pushing me out the way to look through my collection of movies. I sigh as he starts digging through the movies and decide to just go sit beside Michael and begin eating the pizza as well.
After a few more minutes a movie is put in and all three of us are seated comfortably in the living room, I wait for the menu to start up and see that Calum has indeed found ‘The Lego Movie’ in my collection. Don’t ask me how he found it, because honestly I didn’t even know my family owned the film.
I devour about three slices of the ham and pineapple pizza and chug a can of Coke before the beginning credits even begin to roll. I had no idea I was so hungry; the thing I love about Calum is the fact that he shares the same favorite pizza as me, so when we order out we always get what we want. After the pizza is gone and Michael has made a huge bowl of popcorn we end up laying all together on the couch.
My head is on Michaels shoulder while his feet are spread out so they are resting on the coffee table in front of us, my feet are sitting in Calum’s lap as his legs are dangling over the side of the couch and his head is on a pillow he has situated on my arm. As weird as the sight of us would look to some people I have never really thought anything of it, Michael and Calum are like brothers to me and we’ve always been this close without having feelings for each other.
“This movie is freaking awesome!” Michael exclaims half way through, I glance over to see him eagerly watching the movie while stuffing popcorn into his mouth. Looking over I see that Calum is also very into the movie. Dang, I hang out with some children. I grab some popcorn and settle back into the couch waiting for the movie to end, as much as I like ‘The Lego Movie’ it's kind of getting a little boring.
Finally the movie is over and I cant help but exhale in relief. “Time for some more Coke and popcorn!” Calum yells, jumping up from the couch and running towards the kitchen. These boys really know how to make themselves right at home. I get up and go towards the movie collection, wondering what they will want to watch next.
“Oh man, can we watch ‘ZombieLand’?” I ask, pulling out the DVD and placing it into the player without waiting for an answer. ‘ZombieLand’ is by far one of the greatest movies of all time, Woody Harrelson is an absolute legend.
“‘ZombieLand’, really Ellie? We watch this every time we come over here,” Michael chuckles as he and Calum come back from the kitchen and sit back down beside me on the couch. I just shrug my shoulders in response because what they say is the complete truth, every time we have a movie night I end up putting ‘ZombieLand’ in.
“So, are you going to tell us what kind of gang Luke was in?” Calum asks unexpectedly, as the movie starts. I give him a glare, but turn to see that Michael is staring at me with eager eyes as well, waiting for my answer.
“He wasn’t in a gang,” I groan, slapping my hand to my forehead.
“Well then what was he in? Why’s he so mysterious?” Calum continues to question, and unless I am mistaken I can’t help but notice a little admiration in his voice.
“He just moved towns, that’s it,” I mutter, not really wanting to get into this conversation. As much as I hate lying to my best friends Luke’s story isn’t mine to tell, and actually I'm not even supposed to know Luke’s background.
