I Need A Hero Vol 3 {Peter Quill}

After Rocket, Groot and Thor left, Gwen joined the other four to inform them that they were heading to Knowhere.

"Did Thor say anything?" Damien asked.

"Yes. Thanos is headed for Knowhere" Gwen said.

"There's an Infinity Stone there, isn't there?" Nebula asked

"Yes. The reality stone. Thor's people trusted The Collector with it"

"Then we better prepare for battle. Can we go? These two keep flirting and it's grossing me out" Nebula referred to Quentin and Helena.

"Yeah. I need to talk to them anyway" Nebula and Damien were just about to leave when Gwen stopped Damien. "You should talk to Gamora. Thanos is her father and I don't know how this is going to go for her. Maybe finally tell her you love her before it's too late?"

"Then that's what I'll do, because I really do love her" Damien said. She let him go, leaving her alone with Quentin and Helena.

"Are we really going to fight Thanos?" Quentin asked

"If he's there, then yes" Gwen said. She sat down in front of them. "Look, I'm still really mad at you two and I don't completely trust you two"

"And we understand that. We'd feel the same way if we were you" Helena said.

"Yeah, well, I'm willing to put those feelings behind me until Thanos is killed. And I swear, if you two turn on us, if you're secretly working with Thanos, then I will make sure you two die slow and painful deaths. Am I understood?"

"Yes" they both said. Gwen felt a sickness in her stomach again. She's been feeling it for about a couple months now. She closed her eyes and placed her hand on her stomach. Helena noticed and became concerned.

"Sister, are you alright?" she asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Just nervous" At that moment, Peter had joined them.

"Gwen, Gamora needs to talk to us. She says it's important" he said.

Peter and Gwen joined Gamora on the bridge. Peter was tinkering with some gadgets that were on the table.

"You know if these grenades are the "blow off your junk" kind or the gas kind? 'Cause I was thinking I might hang a couple on my belt right here. But I don't want to..." Peter was cut off by Gamora.

"I need to ask a favor of both of you" she said

"Yeah, what is it?" Gwen asked

"One way or another, the path that we're on leads to Thanos"

"Which is what the grenades are for" Peter said. Gwen glanced towards Peter. "Sorry, what's the favor?"

"If things go wrong. If Thanos gets me. I want you to promise me you'll kill me" Peter and Gwen gave each other baffled looks. Why would Gamora ask them to do that? She noticed the looks they were giving each other so she explained. "I know something he doesn't. If he finds it out the entire Universe could be at risk"

"What do you know?" Peter asked

"If I tell you, you'd know, too"

"If it's so important, shouldn't we?" Gwen said.

"Only if you want to die"

"Why does somebody always have to die in this scenario?"

"Gwen, just trust me, and possibly kill me"

"Star-Princess, Gamora wouldn't be asking this if the fate of the universe depended on it. I think out of the two of us, it should be you. You two are so incredibly close, you're practically sisters. I don't just mean you two call yourself sisters, but you behave like sisters would" Peter said. Gwen felt tears brimming her eyes. She looked at Peter and then looked to Gamora.

"But, I don't think I can...." she said

"Swear to me. Swear to me on your daughter" Gamora said.

"Okay" Gwen kissed Gamora on the cheek before wrapping her arms around her. Peter left the room so that they could have their moment. The two of them have never hugged this long before but that moment was quickly ruined when they heard a crunch. They pulled away and looked towards Drax who had been eating a bag of zark nuts. "Dude! How long have you been standing there?"

"An hour" Drax said

"An hour? Are you serious?"

"I've mastered the ability of standing so incredibly still that I've become invisible to the eye. Watch" Drax brought another zark nut up to his mouth but he moved at an incredibly slow pace.

"You're eating a zark nut!"

"But my movement...so slow, and it's imperceptible"

"No" Gamora said

"I'm sure I'm invisible"

"Hi Drax!" Mantis said, waving at him.

"Damn it!"
