I Need A Hero Vol 3 {Peter Quill}

"Peter? But how? I saw you turn to dust" Gwen said.

"I'm here to save you and Meredith. That's all that matters right now" Peter said. He got the restraints off of Gwen. She immediately wrapped her arms around him and kissed him.

"Oh Peter! I love you so much! I missed you" She nuzzled her head into the crook of his neck. "Promise you'll never leave me again"

"I promise" Peter grabbed Gwen's hand. "I think I know where Meredith is. I was hiding when I saw this woman take her to a room"

"That would be Phantom. She's planning to take Meredith to Thanos"

"Well, we're not gonna let that happen"

The Guardians and the Avengers made it to Xagreon. Rocket landed the ship next to an abandoned building. Meredith's tracker was indicating that she was inside there, and hopefully Gwen as well.

"The tracker says they're in that building. Let's hope so" Rocket said.

"Everyone remembers the plan? Thor and I get Meredith and Gwen, while the rest of you hold back Thanos' guys" Helena said.

"What are we waiting for then? Let's go save them" Thor said.

Gwen and Peter were sneaking through the hallways to get to their daughter. While Gwen was more than happy to see Peter, she remembered back to when she kissed Thor and her guilt took over.

"Peter, there's something I need to tell you" Gwen said. Peter sighed and turned to her.

"There's something I have to say as well" he said.

"You go first"

"No, I think you should. What I have to say is probably worse than what you have to say"

"How is me kissing Thor worse than what you have to say?"

"To be fair, you thought I was never coming back. I can understand why you'd kiss him"

"But you did come back"

"About that—"

"Mommy!" They could hear Meredith's cries coming from the room at the end of the hall. "Mommy! Help me!" Gwen reaches for her lightsaber, and Peter reached for his gun.

"Honey, whatever you have to tell me, you can tell me once our daughter is safe" Gwen said. She nearly jumped when she felt a tap on her shoulder. She powered up her weapon and pointed it at Thor. With him was Helena and Rocket.

"I mean no harm Lady Gwen" Thor said.

"What the hell are you guys doing here?" Gwen asked.

"We're here to save you"

"How'd you know where I was?"

"There's a tracker in Meredith" Rocket said.

"You put a tracker in our daughter?" Rocket ignored the question and looked at Peter.

"Quill? Gwen told us that you turned to dust. How are you here?"

"I can explain later. Our daughter is in that room. She's scared and she's alone" Peter said.

"We're here for back-up. Everyone else is keeping watch for Phantom, Brenna, Zane and Kamomile" Helena explained.

"Helena, I'm so sorry about what I did. I should've let you explain yourself—"

"Sister, I don't blame you. You've been through a lot and with what I've done in the past, I would've done the same thing"

"Guys, this is a really touching moment and all, Husband reunited with wife, sisters forgiving each other, but it's important that we get Meredith" Rocket said.

"The rabbit is right" Thor said.

"She's in that room" Peter said, pointing towards the door. They approached it and tried opening it but it was locked.

"Step aside Quill. I've escaped from twenty three prisons. If any knows how to pick a lock, it's me" Rocket said. He grabbed his lock picking materials from his bag, and picked the lock with ease. "There's no lock that I can't pick"

"Does it look like anyone is inside?" Helena asked.

"Nope. I do see Meredith. She's on a bed chained by her ankles" Gwen said. She began to tear up. "My poor baby" Peter reached over to wipe her tears.

"Don't cry Gwen. We'll get her back" Peter said.

"The three of us will go in and get her" Helena motioned towards herself, Gwen and Peter. "You two stay out here and keep watch" She said to Thor and Rocket.

"You got it" Rocket said. Gwen, Peter and Helena went into the room. Meredith's crying stopped when she saw her family.

"Mommy! Daddy! Auntie!" she said. She got up and tried to walk over to them but winced in pain when she felt the chain cuff tug at her ankle.

"It's alright, Meredith. We're here to save you" Peter said. Meredith smiled and wrapped him in a hug.

"I knew you were coming to save me daddy! The mean lady said you were dead! I knew she was lying" While Peter held Meredith in her arms, Gwen was trying to get the chain off of her.

"Try cutting it off" Helena suggested. Gwen powered up her lightsaber. She tried cutting the chain with it, but no luck.

"No use in trying. Zane is the only one who knows how to unlock it" Phantom's voice said. She came out from hiding. She used her powers to make it seem like she was just a shadow on the wall. "Meredith will be Thanos' daughter. He's already lost one he loved dearly, and he wouldn't even care if the other was dead"  Peter stood up and pointed is gun at Phantom.

"I told you my daddy would come to save me" Meredith said. Phantom looked at the child and then back to Peter.

"Oh, young one. Do you really think this is your father? Like I said, your father is dead. He's just an imposter, aren't you Kamomile?" Phantom grabbed Peter by the neck, but he wasn't Peter anymore. He was Kamomile. "I should've killed you the moment I saw you"

"Y-You're going t-to lose" Kamomile choked out. His eyes closed and Phantom threw him to the ground. Gwen eyed his unconscious body with heartbreak. She should've known that it was too good to be true. All her strength was gone and she fell to her knees.

"How pathetic. The Queen of Kosmo no longer has any fight left in her. It makes killing you that much easier" Phantom said. She conjured up a sword, and was about to take a swing at Gwen when a blast sent her back.

"If you want to kill her, you'll have to go through me" Tony said. He was suited up with Steve and Nebula standing on either side of him.

"You'll have to go through me as well" Steve said.

"And me" Nebula said.
