I Need A Hero Vol 3 {Peter Quill}

The Guardians ship arrived on Knowhere. It was deserted which must have meant that Thanos already arrived and wiped out everyone.

"This place looks deserted" Gwen said

"I'm reading movement from the third quadrant" Drax said

"Yeah. I'm picking that up, too. Let's put it down over here" Peter said. He landed the ship, and with careful steps, everyone exited the ship.

"We should be wary. He is here" Nebula said. Just as she said that, Thanos' voice echoed throughout the abandoned building they were in. Peter stopped and put his fist up, as a signal for them to stop. However, Gwen was the only one who understood and actually stopped. Peter sighed and looked to his wife, who just shrugged in return. They then caught up with the others. They could see Thanos and The Collector. The Collector was on the ground and Thanos had his foot on top of him.

"I know you have the Reality Stone. Giving it to me will spare you a great deal of suffering"

"I told you. I sold it. Why would I lie?" the Collector said.

"I imagine it's like breathing for you.

"Like suicide"

"So you do understand? Not even you will surrender something so precious"

"I didn't know what it was"

"Then you're more of a fool than I took you for. Last chance, Charlotte. Where's the Stone?"

"Today, he pays for the deaths of my wife and daughter" Drax whispered. He pulled out his knife. Peter and Gwen both tried to stop him.

"Drax, wait!" Gwen said

"Not yet. He doesn't have the Stone yet. We get it, and then we can stop him" Peter said

"Peter's right. We need to get the stone first" Gwen said

"For Ovette. For Camaria" Drax said. He was about to take a run at Thanos until Mantis placed her hand on the back of his head.

"Sleep" she said. Drax fell asleep and he also fell to the ground making a loud thud. Thanos looked over to them and started walking their way. They hid out of sight and Peter started coming up with a plan.

"Okay. Gamora, Mantis, you go right. Gwen, you---" Peter stopped when Gamora began walking over to Thanos. "The other right!" Peter called to her. Gamora and Thanos put up a bit of a fight. She got the upperhand, eventually stabbing Thanos with the knife he gave her as a child. He fell to the ground, hands over his wounds. Gamora watched him with a sad look on her face.

"Why? Why you? Daughter..." Thanos said before he 'died'. Gamora crouched to the ground and she began to cry.

"That was quick" Peter commented. The Collector began clapping.

"Magnificent! Magnificent! Magnificent!" he chanted. Then Thanos' body disappeared and environment around them changed. He had found the Reality Stone and had been using it.

"Is it sadness I sense in you, daughter? In my heart, I knew you still cared. No one ever knows for sure. Reality is often disappointing" The real Thanos emerged. "That is, it was. Now... Reality can be whatever I want.

"You knew I'd come here" Gamora said.

"I counted on it. There's something we need to discuss, little one" Thanos said. Gamora tried to pick up her sword but Thanos grabbed her.

"Thanos!" Drax screamed. He tried to run towards Thanos but the latter used the Reality stone to turn Drax into stone. Mantis popped up with a horrified look on her face. Thanos turned her into paper. Gwen wasn't just going to stand by and let Thanos hurt her friends. Peter could see her reaching for her weapon.

"Gwen, think about what you're going to do" Peter said

"I have thought Peter. Gamora is my sister, and I'm not going to stand by and let him hurt her!" she said

"She's my sister too. Don't do this alone" Nebula said.

"I know Nebula, but I have to do this" Gwen pulled out the handle of her energy sword and came out of hiding. Helena got up and tried to stop her, but Damien pulled her back down. "Let her go, Grimace!"

"Gwen..." Gamora said

"Peter told you to go left!"

Now? Really?"

"You let her go!"

"Ah, the best friend" Thanos said

"I like to think of myself more as a Titan-killing long term BFF. In fact, we're so close, I consider Gamora to be my sister" Gwen had the energy sword pointed at Thanos, almost ready to power it up. "Let. Her. Go!"

"Gwen..."

"Let her go I'm gonna slice that nut-sack of a chin right off your face!"

"Not him. You promised!"

"Oh, daughter. You expect too much from her. She's asked, hasn't she?" Thanos said. He pushed Gamora towards her. "Do it!"

Gwen had her weapon pointed at Gamora. She was about to power up her sword but she just couldn't bring herself to do it. Gwen began to cry.

"Peter told you to go right!" she said

"I love you, more than anything."

"I love you too" Gwen closed her eyes and channelled all her energy to her weapon. However, instead of a beam of energy, bubbles came out. Thanos laughed.

"I like you" he said. Nebula stepped in front of Gwen.

"If you're taking Gamora then you're taking me as well" she said.

"That is the plan" Thanos grabbed Nebula as well and then left with the two sisters. Gwen fell to her knees. Her eyes landed on Gamora's sword so she picked it up. Peter, Damien and Helena ran up to Gwen. Peter held out his hand for her so she grabbed it and he helped her up. Quentin stayed behind with Drax and Mantis who were now back to normal.

"What the hell were you thinking!? He could've killed you!" Peter screamed at her.

"I needed to save her! Now he has both Gamora and Nebula!" Gwen said. She started crying again and fell into Peter's arms. "I promised her, and I couldn't even bring myself to do it. She said she loved me Peter"

"And so do I. That's why next time you stand up to Thanos, let us help you"

"We need to get her back" Damien said.

"We don't even know where they went" Helena said. Gwen's grip tightened on Gamora's sword as she looked down at it.

"Well, we have to start looking somewhere. Let's start with Titan" Gwen said.

Warning, next chapter will be a heavy one as a certain character will die 😢 (I think you know who)
