Chapter 2: Birthday suprises

I woke up. I swam downstairs and I see my family and friends. They shout, " Happy birthday!" I didn't tell you? Yea. My 18th birthday! I'm free! Well, not really. But it's the thought that counts! Right?

" Sweetie. Dad and I are letting you stay on land for two months." mom said.

" Really! Can I bring Sky?" I said. They nodded and I started to do a little dance. I grabbed Sky and swam to my cave. It's not underwater but it's hidden. Sky and I dry off. We are not naked. A bikini form if we are dry.

I went to my chest full of money. I secretly worked on land a lot so I hid my money. I grabbed my bag and put all the money in.

" Lets go to the store and buy stuff." Sky said. We walked out.

" Okay. Remember. We can not get wet. We have to keep our secret. And not get too crazy." I said, walking into the store. We looked and tried on outfits. We bought some sleeping wear and the other stuff. We walked out and saw a phone store.

" Lets buy waterproof phones!" Sky said. She dragged me in and we bought it.

" Woah. We need a hotel." I said.

" Lets go." Sky said. We walked around and found a hotel. We walked in and rent a room for one month. The other month is a cheaper hotel place.

" Room 254" the man said. He gave us the keys and we went to the elevator.

" Hey!" a guy called. I stopped the thing... He stepped in.

" Thanks. Um. I'm Matthew Espinosa. Call me Matt. " Matthew said.

" I'm Christina. And this is Sky. What room?" I said.

" Room 255" Matt said.

" Close to ours." Sky said and pressed the button. I can tell that she liked him. My mermaid powers.

We walked out and went to our room.

" Um. How about we hang out later? Like meet me at my room and chill. Um. Here is my number." Matt said. Aw. That's so adorable! He gave us the number and we gave him ours.

We walked in. " Woah." I said. The room is... something.

" Oh my Matt! He is so cute!" Sky said.

" I know! But he can be yours. Wait. He can't. We are, you know. And we can only love once." I said. It is true. Mermaids can only love once.

" That sucks..." Sky said.

" Um. Sky. We were still in our bathing suits when we met Matt. That's embarrassing." I said. Sky laughed and I joined in.

A couple of hours passed and Matt texted me.

Matt: Hey

C: Hey

Matt: Can you and Sky come and chill???

C: Sure.

I told Sky and I changed into shorts and a shirt. I put my hoodie on and my vans shoe. I see Sky and she wore shorts and a shirt with a beanie.

" Ohhhh. Sky." I said.

" What?" She laughed. We walked out and I knocked on his door. A guy opens it. He had blue eyes and brown hair.

" Um. Sorry. I guess this is the wrong room." I said.

" Wait! Um. Christina and Sky come in." I see Matt coming to the door. We walked in, awkwardly.

" So guys, this is Christina and Sky. " Matt said, rubbing the back of his neck.

" Ohhh. Get some!" A guy yelled.

" I already hate this." I whispered to Sky. She nodded her head.

" Um. This is Nash Grier, Cameron Dallas, Aaron Carpenter, Taylor Caniff, Carter Reynolds, Jack and Jack, and Shawn Mendes." Matt said.

" Hi." Sky and I said.

" Hey." They all said. Silence happened. I felt uncomfortable. So was Sky.

" Well. Sky and I will leave." I said. But Matt grabs my wrist. I look at his and pull away.

" Sorry. It's just.. Nevermind. Please stay." Matt said.

" Fine." I said. I look at Sky. She looks sad. I grab her shoulder and whisper, " He is not worth your time. We can only love once, remember?" She nodded and looked down.

We all watched movies. Later on, Carter sits by me.

" So, Christina..."

" Um. Yea." I said, looking at him.

" Can I have your number?" He said.

" Haha. Funny. " I said and pushed him away.

" So. Sky and Christina. Tell us about yourselves." Shawn said.

Sky and I looked at each other.

" I'm 17. I love the ocean. So yea." Sky said.

" Um. I love the ocean too. Today is my birthday. So I'm 18..." I said.

" Today is your birthday!" Nash shouted.

" Lets take her somewhere and spend crazy amounts of money!" Taylor said. He is funny. I like that.

" No. I'm good." I said.

" We have to!" Carter said. Carter grabs me and picks me up. I see Matt do the same to Sky.

" No! Stop!" I said. Why try? It's doesn't even work! They called a taxi and we arrived at the mall.

" Thanks but I need to go back to the hotel room with Sky." I said.

" Nope! Let's go!" Aaron said.

* Skips mall trip *

" Thanks. A lot." I said. I hugged them all and walked in the hotel room. I had a bunch of bags.

" I feel so guilty!" I said.

" Why?" Sky said. Stupid question!

" Um. We only have two months here! Where will I put this when it's over!?" I said.

" Um. Hide it in the cave between the rocks inside. " Sky said. I nodded.

" Imma try and take a shower." I said. Sky laughed. I grabbed my sleeping wear and walked inside the bathroom. I filled the tub with water and soap. I undressed and quickly sat in. My mermaid tail begins to form. I grabbed the shampoo and tried to bathe.

I quickly try to dry myself. My feet forms and my bikini. Sounds weird, maybe. I took it out and put my clothes on.

" Good luck." I said. Sky walked in and said, " This is gonna turn out bad." I laughed and order room service.

The room service came. Yas! I ate my food and watched T.V. Sky came out. " I survived! " She yells. I laugh and we ate.

I crawled into my awesome bed and fell asleep. I love the feeling of having no mermaid tail.
