Chapter 74: hidden secrets

I gasped at what I see. A skeleton. A mermaid skeleton.
" My great great grandfather killed it long ago. The bones were hidden in the sand until I saw part of the bones. My dad said it's a mermaid. Can you believe him? " Tyson said.
" Mermaids? That's silly." I said. I couldn't control my breathing. My heart pounded. My head started to hurt.
" Are you okay, Christina?" Tyson asked.
" I'm fine." I lied. I need to see my family.
" Tyson, I need to go. I'll see you soon." I said.
" Okay... Bye." He said as I ran towards home. I walked in and went straight to Sky and Kylie.
" What's wrong?" Sky asked as she held my arm.
" Tyson's family killed one if our own. His great great grandfather killed one of us." I said.
" What?" Sky said.
" We need to stay away from them. Who knows if they still kill. " I said. The doorbell rings. I jump. I walked to the door and my parents smiled. I let them in.
" Hey, sweetie." Mom said. I closed the door but soon it opened. Jordan.
" Christina, get away from him. " Dad pulled me towards him and mom.
" What? Why?" I asked. Sky and Kylie was held by my mom.
" He is a wild shark." Mom said.
" Wild shark?" I said.
" He is not like us. He doesn't care if people know if he is a merman. He doesn't care about the safety of our own. He kills." Mom said.
" He is my boyfriend." I pulled away and walked to Jordan.
" Christina!" Dad said.
" Your dad is right. I am a wild shark. It's in my blood. " Jordan said.
" How come I didn't know any of this? What don't I know about being a mermaid?" I shouted.
" Did they tell you about our multiple powers?" Jordan asked.
"Multiple powers! You said we only had one!" I said.
" Calm down, Christina. " Dad said.
" How many things I don't know? " I said.
" You would be in danger." Mom said.
" If I didn't know how to control it! But I know how to control it!" I said.
" Listen to me and your father. You could be in terrible trouble." Mom shouted.
" How could I be in trouble?" I shouted back. Mom and dad looked at each other.
" Great, more secrets." I said. I walked out the door and took a deep breath. Someone held on to my shoulder. I turned around and saw Jordan. I hugged him.
" Are you okay?" He asked.
" Yes. I just need a break." I said. I pulled away.
" I can show you a place." He smiled. I looked at him. I'm unsure but I agreed to go.

We walked to a cave. I never saw it before. It looked like a room inside.
" This is actually my home but it's also where I can escape." He said as he sat on the couch. I look at the lights.
" How do you have power in here?" I asked.
" Solar panels." He said.
" I didn't see any." I said.
" Cause I hid them." He smiled at me. I look at the wires on the ground. I sat by him. His arm wrapped around my waist.
" I need to know about who I am." I said.
" But your parents-"
" My parents keep secrets from me." I said.
" Well, what do you need to know?" He asked.
" Everything." I said.
" We can connect to the world. Just let nature in your mind." He got up, so did I.
" Just focus." He said. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes then I had this feeling. I felt it many times. I opened my eyes. It was like the world was brighter. My sight was better.
" Wow." I said as I shook my head. He chuckled.
" We have this to have a better understanding of the world." He said. I smiled.
