Something I Cannot Forget Chapter 6

"Mom!"I yelled at my mother that I hadn't seen in months.

"Shay!Max!"She said hugging my brother and I.

I was so relieved to see her. I needed her guidance to tell me what I should do about my current situation.

"So mom,did you miss me?I'm sure you missed The Ginger too,but she couldn't miss you because of her missing soul."Max said.

I gave him a glare, raising my middle finger. Mom laughed.

"Maxwell Green, what did I tell you about calling your sister soulless? And of course,I missed you!I missed everyone, all of the guys. How’s Ronnie?"

Max and I gave each other a look.

"Um...he's great,mom."I said,trying not to sound suspicious.

She raised an eyebrow, but she bought it anyway.

"Max,how's Lexus?"

Max's eyes widened."Shit,I almost forgot!I was supposed to meet her for lunch!See you later!"He yelled, running out of the door.

My mom and I laughed.

"That boy and his whores."

My mom wasn't too found of Lexus. She thought that she was a lying, self obsessed, fame seeking, whore, but I thought that she was just being harsh. She was a mom,she wasn't supposed to like any of the girls that her son dated.

"How far along are you?"She said suddenly, breaking the silence.

I gasped,"How did you-" "Honey,you're glowing!"She laughed."I can't believe that my baby is having a baby!"

I blushed."Ronnie's right?"

I nodded. My mom was always fond of him,but I was scared that she wouldn't be too fond after she found out his latest fashion. I pulled out the necklace with my engagement ring on it.

She gasped and pulled me into a tight hug."Oh my God,my baby!"She shouted as she planted kisses on my forehead.

I simply just sat there, unsure of what to say. She noticed and gave me a look.

"You don't seem too excited."She said, putting a hand on her hip. Her blue eyes glowed with curiosity. Her blonde hair shining in the light. Mom was beautiful, unlike myself. She was every guys dream. Looking at her couldn't stop me from thinking about how quickly Ronnie would leave me for another girl.

"Ronnie has a problem,Mom...a drug problem..."I said,shaking a little.

"How heavy is it?"

"...Weed,coke,heroin,prescription pills...you name it.."

She sighed and pulled me in closer."Ronnie's strong. He’ll get through this-"

"Mom,we had a fight about this yesterday...I asked him if he loved the drugs more than me..."

"What did he say,honey?"

A tear escaped my eye."He said that he didn't know. He’s in too deep,Mom. I’m scared...I'm scared that I'll have to raise this baby alone. I’m afraid that our child will have to speak to it's father through a fucking glass window on a goddamn phone because he's in jail!"I screamed as more tears flowed out.

"Shay,it's okay. You’ll get through this,Ronnie will get through this. Everything will be okay. Max will eventually be okay with everything and you and Ronnie will have a beautiful healthy baby and a wonderful marriage."

I couldn't stop the tears. It felt so good being with someone that could comfort me,especially my mom. All I wanted was for everything that she was telling me to turn out to be true, but at that moment it seemed far from possible.

Then I got a text from April.

'My best friend is home!!Meet me at my house.'

I smiled,suddenly feeling better.

"You're smiling now?!You're hormones are everywhere."My mom joked

I laughed."It's April. See you later, mom. I love you." I said, kissing her cheek. I left the house trying to feel positive about out new situation. Things couldn't possibly get worse.
