A/N: So I'm terrible at updating this story, believe me, I'm loving writing it and I'm nothing short of ideas, it's just finding the time and motivation to do so, I hope you all don't mind. I'm making a schedule for myself where a chapter will be up on Saturday's. Enjoy this next chapter! <3
"Wow..." Alex mumbles once I'd finished telling him the whole story.
I nod solemnly, looking down at the gravel ground beneath my feet. It was still sinking in for me, even as I told it to Alex. Me, Olivia Cook, actually having the chance of a scholarship to NYU!
I hand him the letter Ben gave me and he takes it, reading through it a smirk spreading across his lips and a peculiar light shining in his eyes. I furrow my brow, staring at him quizzically, "what?" I ask, planting my feet on the gravel, halting my gentle swinging back and forth..
Alex shook his head, handing the envelope back to me, "girl, you're making it sound like it's the end of the world, this sounds AMAZING!"
I roll my eyes, resuming the gentle rhythm of my swing once more.
"It's not about the scholarship Alex!" I say huffing out a small laugh, "it's the fact I'm gonna be spending a whole summer in New York, and the worst think is my parents didn't even think to ask me about it first."
Alex hummed gently, his wide smile from before now turned to a subtle smirk at the corner of his mouth, "so you'll be spending a whole summer with your brother...?" he asked, his voice going a little high pitched, I shook my head and folded my arms, "you are so sex deprived, it's unreal!"
Alex held his arms up in defence, "hey, it's not my fault Ben's hot."
I scoffed, shoving him off the swing, "gross!"
He laughed, untangling himself from the swing set and standing up, dusting off the gravel and dirt, "I reeeeaaaaalllly need to know V, is that gorgeous boy gay or not?" he asked, pouting at me and flashing his puppy dog eyes up at me.
Alex came out to me about a 2 months into our friendship. We were in a closet during a game of spin the bottle at a party neither one of us wanted to go to, we were stood in there for about 3 minutes before he told me, I wasn't all too surprised, I was actually quite proud of him for having the courage to tell me. I did find out later though that the game was rigged so that some of the popular kids in our year could out him to the whole school and make me look like even more of a loser than I already was.
I ended up kissing him just as the door opened (as he wasn't quite ready to come out yet) and everyone was non the wiser.
I shrug, "I really don't know Alex, I don't think I've ever seen him kiss ANYONE before and he's not entirely open about whether he has a girlfriend or boyfriend."
I say, standing from the swing and walking away, Alex quick on my heels, "I'm just sayin' you may be looking at your brother in law in around...5 years, 8 months, 2 weeks, 6 hours, 27 minutes and 11 seconds."
I stop and turn to him, staring at him suspiciously, "that's oddly specific..."
He smiled winking at me and continued walking, I scoff again, "you're a creepy dude Stevenson!"
He turned back to me, still walking, "it's all part of my charm Cook! ....17 seconds....20 seconds..."
You're probably thinking Alex is a creeper who's just my friend because of Ben, but I swear to you, we became friends before he even knew I had any brothers or sisters.
I roll my eyes, "stoooop!" I groan, jogging to catch up with him and bump his shoulder.
***
Just as we rounded the corner to my house, Alex decided to slow down.
