this chapter seems really short to me, so it might be, sorry guys.
RED SKY AT MORNING
Beth sat with Clarke, Kai, Bellamy, Octavia and Jasper as a girl was talking to others away from them. "Everywhere I looked, there were fins. And teeth. And blood. I knew if they saw me, I'd be next, so I just floated there, waiting, praying they'd swim on." The girl explains her story.
Beth sighed, running a hand through her hair, tiredly. Can I go float myself? Beth thinks to herself, looking at the others. "She said no, can we go now?" She asks the group, not wanting to sit there for another moment.
"No." Clarke says.
A door opens as Luna walks in. "She's here. Maybe she changed her mind." Bellamy says to them. Beth rolls her eyes. Bellamy taps Clarke's leg and the two get up walking over to her.
Beth watched as they talked, ending with Luna walking away and up to Beth, Jasper, Kai and Octavia. Luna looks at Beth. "We need to talk." She says to the redhead. Beth nods at the girl.
Octavia and Kai stand as Jasper says. "That's our que." The three walk away as Luna sits next to Beth. Luna holds out Lincoln's book. "I thought you'd want this back." Luna says to her.
Beth nods, giving the girl a small, forced smile. "Thank you." Beth looks at the book in her hands, placing it on her legs. "And my sword?" She asks Luna.
"Your weapons will be on the boat." Luna says to her.
Beth looks down at the book, messing with the flap. "So much for the great savior of those in need." Beth says. She sighs. "Sorry. I've had a bad week."
Luna nods, understandingly. "You don't want saving." Luna says to the red haired girl. "You want someone to fight with you."
"Damn right, we're at war." Beth tells the Floukru girl. "Luna, you can't just ignore that." Beth sighs, looking down before looking back at the Nightblood. "Lincoln would have wanted you to help us."
Luna doesn't tear her gaze from the fire as she asks, "By becoming Commander?" She asks the girl. "I don't think so. Lincoln knew our rules. We take people in who are done fighting. Done killing." Luna says looking at Beth now. "Look at you, fighting is all you know." Beth shakes her head. "Your friend Octavia is the same. Death is all you know." Beth looks away from the girl and at the fire. "Lincoln would have never brought that here." Tears well in Beth's eyes as she sat there, she wipes them away.
Applause tore the girls from their conversation. The two look over, seeing the other girl with the shark story was done speaking. Beth smiles lightly, seeing Jasper clapping, looking almost happy.
The two girls stay silent for a moment, before Luna speaks. "How'd you meet him?" Luna asks the girl. Beth looks at her, confused. "Lincoln, how'd you meet him?"
