A/N: So laying in t hospital and it's 430 am. WHO TAKES BLOOD FOR BLOODWORK AT 4 AM?????? Not that I'm bitter. But I can't sleep now, so UPDATE! Yay! Right? And just in case anyone wanted to know, the surgery went well. I had tons of nausea for the first like 4 hours after I woke up from anesthesia. That sucked. But now it's just dealing with the surgery pain and stiffness and soreness. Just saying, I can't wait until 640 when I get more meds. Lol. Anyway, I'll stop boring you with my life and enjoy!------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After the diner and movie, Dean and you set out on the open road. You didn't know where he was going, but you didn't care. It was as if, for a moment, all the bad in the world had disappeared. There were no monsters and demons to be fought, it was just the two of you exploring the roads and your emotions together. You two talked about everything and nothing all at once. It was freeing to be so open with Dean.
"What are we even doing?" you asked as the sun was beginning to set.
"You'll see," Dean responded as he pulled off into an open field. He quickly got out of the car and opened your door for you.
"So, what am I going to see?" you asked, taking his outstretched hand in yours. Butterflies filled your stomach at the simple contact.
"We're stuck in that bunker so much. Thought it might be nice to see a sunset."
"It's December, Dean. Won't we freeze?"
He winked and tugged you along. You both walked to the trunk where Dean pulled out several blankets and a thermos. You couldn't stop yourself from grinning. Everything felt so...normal. Normal was something you hadn't experienced in a very long time. Dean took a blanket and spread one across the hood of the Impala. There was no way he was going to lay on his precious car, was there?
"Here," he said, placing his hands on your hips and lifting you onto his car. You couldn't believe it, but you were thankful to be off the cold ground.
He climbed up on the other side of you and spread the other blankets over the two of you, then he poured some of the warm liquid from the thermos into the cup-like cap. You sipped on the warmth and realized it was some of the best hot chocolate you had ever had.
"When did you even have time to prepare all of this?" you asked him.
"When you were changing."
You shook your head with a smile and looked out to the cinnamon colored sky, keeping the cup grasped tightly as heat for your hands.
"What?" Dean asked.
You inhaled and looked back at the handsome man staring intently at you. "I never imagined you would ask me out, and I certainly never imagined you would be this caring if you did."
He gave you a little half smile and wrapped his arm around you to pull you close. You snuggled closer into his side, relishing his warmth and his scent. "About the way I treated you—"
"Dean, it's okay."
"It's not, I was just so afraid to hurt you or lose you. I never want to see you hurt, and thanks to me I saw that a lot."
"That's behind us. Let's just focus on the now," you said. Without consciously deciding to, you started to lean into him, readying yourself to kiss him. Once your brain caught up with your actions, you abruptly stopped and pulled back, mumbling apologies.
Dean placed a gentle hand on the back of your head as he leaned in and touched his lips to yours. It was more than you could've hoped for. Your lips danced together professionally, like you had been kissing each other for years. It was gentle and hungry and sweet. It left you breathless yet wanting nothing more than to melt into Dean once more.
