Lukes POV

A gasp escaped from Michaels lips, and I watched Ashtons hands start to tremble.

'Wha-what?' Michael was the first to speak, confirming my suspicions that he didn't want to believe this either.

'You heard me.' I mumbled, trying to push the thought to the back of my mind about my nightmare. But was Calum dead? I refused to believe that he was, and so I decided to try and distract myself. 'Has the nurse been in yet to tell us when we can see him?'

I recieved head shakes from both of the boys, but Michael spoke up revealing to me that the nurse had in fact been in.

'Nurse Tina was in here about 20 minutes ago telling us to press the green button on your bed when you wake up.' He leaned over me slightly, reaching to hit the green button. 'And you're awake.'

A friendly looking nurse in about her mid 50's rushed into the room. When she saw me sitting up, she smiled at me sweetly, making me feel slightly better.

'Hi honey, I'm nurse Tina.' She was walking around, adjusting my medication and filling up a glass of water. 'How are you feeling?'

'My head hurts abit.' I admitted, rubbing my hand over my forehead trying to ease the pain of my now pounding headache. The nurse was now stood infront of me, assessing my appearance.

'You should be fine, but take these pain killers to help your head.' She handed me the water and two pills, before pulling out a clipboard from under her arm. I watched as her eyes flickered over the writing, her features scrunching up abit in a frown. 'Are you two Mr Irwin and Mr Cliffhood?'

'It's Clifford,' Michael chuckled slightly, shaking his head, before continuing. 'But yes, we are.'

'Oh, sorry Mr Clifford, but yes if you would both follow me.' They all stood up, leaving through a door to who knows where. Now all I have to do is wait.

Michaels POV

We followed the nurse down the corridor and stopped just outside a door a few rooms down from Lukes. I scrunched up my eyes, peering down the corridor making sure I knew where we had come from.

'I decided to tell you boys this news rather than Mr Hemmings as he seems to stuggle with coping at the minute.' She let out a hesitant cough, followed by another glance at the clipboard. 'Mr Hood, as you should be aware of by now, is in a coma. We have run several tests and we know that he is in no risk at this minute in time of loosing his life. However, if he does not wake up within the next 5 or 6 days, I would advise you speak again with a doctor. The minute Calum can no longer hear things around him throughout his experience of being in a coma is the time we normally decide things are going down hill. In other words, when he stops thinking, he'll be gone.'

I let out a choked cough as I looked at Ashton. He too was finding it hard to breathe properly as I could see the rise and fall of his chest was uneven.

'I'll let that sink in, but in the meanwhile, feel free to go and tell Luke the news, and he is now able to go and visit Calum along with you two boys, but only three visitors please in the room at a time.'

I watched as she disappeared down the corridor in her white coat.

'What should we do?' Ashton whispered from beside me. I ruffled my currently red and black hair, before licking my lips, salty from my tears.

'Lets go and tell Luke.' We followed the corridor back down to Lukes room, stopping outside the door.

'I think we should leave out the part about him being gone. He's gone through enough today already.' I nodded in agreement with Ash before turning the handle to the door.

Calums POV.

My head was pounding as I tried to sit up, only to feel even more weighted down. I tried to peel open my eyes, but all I realised was one thing. I couldn't.

Where was I?

No memories came flooding back, until I heard voices just within the limit of my hearing.

'Mr Hood, as you should be aware of by now, is in a coma.'

I was in a coma? I tried once again to move my hand, but nothing happened. All I could feel was a numbness spreading up through my feet, slowly, but it was definitely happening.

I heard the voice again, this time quieter, but still just about there.

'In other words, when he stops thinking, he'll be gone.'

Then I realised, when the numbness reaches my head thats when I'll be dead.

I had to keep thinking, I had to at least try.

You can do this Calum, I thought to myself, You're a fighter.
