Lukes POV
I lay motionless for the next few minutes, trying to comprehend what had just happened. I wanted to apologise to Ashton but I didn't want to leave Calum, scared that if I left he wouldnt be here when I got back. I couldn't tell if he loved me back or not, but I guess I was half enjoying this moment just being with him where he can't turn me away. A thought nags in the back of my mind that when he wakes up the happiness of this moment will be gone when he tells me he doesnt love me, but all I can think of is the other thought...will he ever wake up?
'What the hell have you done?' I looked up to see Michael standing by the door, must I add, looking extremely angry. I frowned, not piecing together the puzzle. 'Ashton, you dumbass!' I blushed, looking down at the floor in embarrassment and guilt.
'Sorry?' I answered quietly, but it coming out more of a question.
'Sorry doesn't cut it when Ash is out in the corridor crying!' I frowned again, another wave of guilt washing over me.
'I-I'm sorry Mikey, I didn't mean to! Tell him Cal?' I asked looking at Cal, before realising he wasnt going to reply. 'Oh, oops.' I whispered sadly, turning to look at Michael again. His features had softened and his before cold eyes where now laced with sadness.
'This is hard on all of us Luke, but we need to stick together okay?' I nodded before stumbling across the room to wrap my arms around Michael, immediatley sobbing into his shoulder.
'What if he never wakes up?' I wailed, gripping onto his tshirt. 'What happens when he's slipped under and he's never going to come back!?' My heart cracked when this statement slipped out of my mouth, causing me to sob harder, only this time no tears came out. I started to gag, feeling sick from the idea of him never returning.
'Calm down Luke, he will come back, I promise.' I knew his promise was empty and so I grabbed the bin by the door as my head started to spin, knowing I would throw up any minute.
'Hey, it's okay, you're okay.' I felt a reassuring hand rubbing soothing circles in my back and so I looked up to see Ashton with a pale face looking down at me. He smiled small, telling me he wasnt mad any more. I felt my breathing slow, the presence of the older boy calming me slightly. I placed the bin back on the floor, almost certain I wouldnt be sick yet.
'Thankyou,' I whispered, wrapping my arms around Ash's waist and tucking my chin in to is shoulder.
'It's okay, thats what brothers are for.' I smiled weakly as he called us brothers, it had felt like ages since he had comforted me before, but now he really was acting like an older brother as he pulled the sandwich out of his bag from earlier. 'One bite, please Luke?'
I sighed, knowing this was a losing battle, and grabbed the sandwich. I ignored the sick feeling in my stomache and swallowed a small bite. Despite thinking other wise, I felt like I had to make it up to Ashton and finish the whole thing, and so I slowly nibbled away at it, my stomache feeling satisfied.
'Sorry Ashton,' I apologised from earlier, 'I didn't mean it.'
I watched as the angel of a boy smiled slightly, his eyes glistening with adorableness.
'It's okay, love you Lukey.' I smiled.
'You too Ash.'
'What now?' Michael chipped in, looking distastefully around the hospital room.
'We sit and wait.'
