Lukes POV

The door to the waiting room burst open, flooding my tired eyes with unwanted light. I looked around, my eyes landing on Ashton and Michael standing in the doorway. They looked bad; their eyes rimmed with dark circles, looking like they hadn't slept in days. I stood up, my legs almost giving way, and opened my arms wide enough to embrace the two boys. I couldn't speak, my voice feeling trapped in my body, but I croaked out a few words enough to make the whole group sob.

'I wish it would have been me.'

Ashton pulled back from the hug, taking me by the shoulders and looking me straight in the eye.

'Don't you dare say that,' his eyes looked right through me, making me feel slightly bad for the statement I had just made.

'Besides,' Michael whispered shakily, 'Calum's a fighter. He'll make it, promise.' I took in a deep, raspy breathe before taking my seat again, wiping another tear from my face.

'When is the doctor gonna tell us,' I muttered, frustrated. 'I've been waiting for 2 hours already!'

Ashton placed his hand on my back, tracing soothing circles around and around.

'Stay calm, we'll know soon Luke.'

I sent a small smile in his direction before leaning my head on Michaels shoulder, finally deciding to take a nap.

'Luke? Luke wake up, the doctor's here to talk to you.' Michaels voice interrupted my sleep, pulling me out from the only thing which could distract me. My eyes snapped open, revealing a man in a white coat looking at me, patiently waiting by the door. I got to my feet and stretched out my shakey hand for the doctor to shake.

'Luke Hemmings.' I stated, introducing myself.

'Doctor Foster, please follow me to the conference room.'

I turned to look at the other two boys, recieving reassuring nods, before following the doctor down the corridor and into a pale room with a desk and two seats either side.

I took a seat, the doctor doing the same, before resting my hands on the table and waiting nervously for the news.

'Well Mr Hemmings, there is no easy way to say this to you. In fact, if I could of got someone else to deliver the news to you, I wouldn't even be in this room right now.' He looked down, a small frown on his face, before continuing. 'I'm sorry, but Mr Hood recieved dramatic blood loss and severe injury to the head. At the moment he has minor brain injury, but he is lost in his thoughts. In other words, he is in a deep coma.'

i dropped to my knees, falling off the chair.

'No! No youre mistaken. He-he cant be!' I pressed my hand to my mouth as a sob wracked through my body, tears already soaking my face.

'No mistakes have been made, Mr Hemmings. Calum is in a coma, and for that I am sorry.'

I wasn't sure how long it took me before I fell to the floor and everything went black.
