Kaelyn's Point of View

As soon as we got back to the house I headed straight for my room and put my journal down, and took out my clothes. There were 6 whole bags of them, but I still felt behind compared to Taylor. I found hangers in the closet, and folded some and put them in a drawer, and hung others up.

Taylor knocked on the door.

"Do you like keep a bunch of different outfits at each house?" I asked.

"Yep. You can leave those here, when we get to New York we can go shopping again." Taylor replied.

"Holy cow." I said.

Taylor shrugged. "You're gonna love New York."

"I've never been," I laughed.

"I loved it so much when I arrived," Taylor said. "I even wrote a song about it. Wanna hear the demo?"

"Sure," I said.

She pulled out her phone and clicked on a track called "Welcome to New York" and began to play it.

Walkin' through a crowd, the village is a glow
Kaleidoscope of loud heartbeats under coats
Everybody here wanted somethin' more
Searchin' for a sound we hadn't heard before
And it said
Welcome to New York
It's been waitin' for you
Welcome to New York, welcome to New York
Welcome to New York
It's been waitin' for you
Welcome to New York, welcome to New York
It's a new soundtrack I could dance to this beat, beat forevermore
The lights are so bright but they never blind me, me
Welcome to New York
It's been waitin' for you
Welcome to New York, welcome to New York
When we first dropped our bags on apartment floors
Took our broken hearts, put them in a drawer
Everybody here was someone else before
And you can want who you want
Boys and boys and girls and girls
Welcome to New York
It's been waitin' for you
Welcome to New York, welcome to New York
Welcome to New York
It's been waitin' for you
Welcome to New York, welcome to New York
It's a new soundtrack I could dance to this beat, beat forevermore
The lights are so bright but they never blind me, me
Welcome to New York (New York!)
It's been waitin' for you
Welcome to New York, welcome to New York
Like any great love, it keeps you guessing
Like any real love, it's ever-changing
Like any true love, it drives you crazy
But you know you wouldn't change anything, anything, anything
Welcome to New York
It's been waitin' for you
Welcome to New York, welcome to New York
Welcome to New York
It's been waitin' for you
Welcome to New York, welcome to New York
It's a new soundtrack I could dance to this beat
The lights are so bright but they never blind me
Welcome to New York
New soundtrack
It's been waitin' for you
Welcome to New York
The lights are so bright but they never blind me
Welcome to New York
So bright, they never blind me
Welcome to New York
Welcome to New York

"Oh my gosh, I love that," I said.

"Thank you so much. It's on my new album," Taylor said. "I'm so glad you like it."

"That's so cool," I said. "How you changed it up like that and weren't scared to."

"I just wanna be myself but my interests have changed, you know," Taylor shrugged.

"I got it," I laughed. "So what about your other songs on the album?"

"They're going pretty good, we have them recorded, just have to add some finishing touches." She said.

"Gotcha," I said. "Okay now that's stuck in my head." I laughed.

"What song do you wanna learn how to play first?" She asked as we walked down the hallway.

"Uhh," I said. There were so many possibilities hitting me at once. "High School Musical?" I said jokingly. Taylor laughed. "Uhhh..." I said. "Maybe... uhhh." I laughed. "I have no clue."

"Well I can teach you some of mine," Taylor shrugged. "What would you wanna learn of mine?"

"Well... I've only heard certain ones, I always loved Picture to Burn," I shrugged. "I remember hearing it on the radio."

"Oh gosh," Taylor laughed. "My country days. Alright, what instrument do you wanna learn it on? Oh, and I have to let you know, that's a really hard one. An easier one is probably Teardrops on my Guitar."

"I guess it's up to you, what do you think is a good first song," I shrugged.

"Hmm..." Taylor thought for a second. "The Best Day is an easy one. Gosh it's been forever since I've played that."

"Okay," I said as she pushed open the music room. She walked over to her guitar stand and grabbed one.

She sat down on the couch with the dark black shiny guitar. She took a pic out of her pocket and began strumming.

"Oh gosh, she needs to be tuned," Taylor said making a face. She began fixing the strings and knobs on the guitar. Finally she got it and began to play. "Okay, so first," she handed the guitar to me. "You play guitar by strumming in your right hand and- you're right handed, right?" She asked.

"Oh, I'm left handed." I said.

"Are you serious?" She asked.

"Yeah," I laughed.

"I don't have any left handed guitars," Taylor said. "Not with me at least."

"Oh," I said. "I can wait, its okay."

"Do you wanna learn how to play the piano?" Taylor asked.

"Woah," I said. "Sure."

Taylor walked over to the keyboard and flicked some switches, pressed a button and twisted some knobs. "Alright," Taylor said. "We'll start with some basics." She placed her fingers in a chord. "This is a-"

"C chord," I said.

"Oh, how'd you know that?" She asked.

"I don't know, by ear I guess. I recognized it." I said.

"From the ukulele?" Taylor asked.

"Yeah." I said.

"Close your eyes," Taylor said. I did. She played another chord.

"That's a... D minor." I said.

"Yeah," Taylor said, playing another.

"Okay, wow. F major, easy." I said.

She continued.

"D minor, again, nice try." I said.

Another.

"D minor Seventh, whats with you and playing D Chords." I laughed.

Another.

"F major," I said. I continued.

"A diminished."

"G minor."

"A minor seventh flat 5."

"Holy cow," Taylor said. "You're incredible at this."

"Eh... I just recognized the chords from hearing them on the ukulele. Not that hard." I shrugged.

"I can't do that," Taylor laughed.

"I don't know," I said. "I guess I just remembered them right or something."

"You're very talented," Taylor said.

"Thank you," I smiled.
