As I walked alone
Along the sandy shore
I saw two sets of footprints
Wondering why there was one more
Searching deep within my heart
There I knew with absolute certainty
That right from the very start
The Lord was indeed with me
Everywhere I went
No despair or worries spent
For His goodness and mercies follow
In both the high and low
But looking back along the journey
There were times with only one set of prints
Did I leave the Lord in my hardest times
Choosing to do my own sprints?
The footprints were not mine
But were those of my Lord
For at those difficult times
I was carried by my Lord
In the toughest times
And deepest valleys
He was faithful to carry me
Through the journey
