'Nijia is our sister, Niya's twin.'

'How come we ain't heard about her befo ?' Demetrius asked me with an attitude. I looked between him and Erin, feeling as if I was being put on the spot. I really didn't want to speak about any of this and it wasn't the easiest thing to talk about either.

'Cause man.' Sighing and rubbing the bridge of my nose, I was getting irritated by this already.

'We didn't even know any of y'all before our ma and daddy got divorced. And when they did get divorced our dad took Nijia from us because he thought that mamma wasn't able to take care of three kids by herself and he was right. But chu know, I guess it worked out cause Nijia and La'Niya was never coo.'

'How come ?' Erin asked me.

'Mamma wasn't real nice to Nijia. She was mad at our father for real but always took it out on her for reasons I could never understand. She always treated us way better than her. I didn't like the shit and I tried to stay kind to Nijia on the low but Niya didn't. She was mean as hell cause she thought that she had to be in front of ma. Guess thas why they fell off. '

'What that gotta do with Avery ?'

'Avery was Niya's friend when we were little. I ain't really know him because she would always go outside to see him and I wasn't one of those outside kids ya know. But eventually he ended up meeting Nijia and they became like BEST friends after that. They was close as hell. So when he heard about her getting taken away with our dad he got angry as fuck and they argued all the way up to the day that she left. We ain't never see her after they left except for one day when she visited which was a couple of years later and we had already known Dope, Meech and Kenny. '

'Angelo happened.'

Out of nowhere, Demetrius gasped and snapped his fingers, pointing at me. 'That was the time where he was fuckin on ANYTHING ..' Meech pointed out, making us look at him crazy.

'Not ANYTHING ..but girls. He was fuckin on all the girls, didn't give a fuck about nun of em because he kept complaining about how he wasn't gonna find nobody. His girlfriend at the time was cheating on him with a male stripper.'

'Angelo had sex with Nijia. She thought that he would call after that but he never did and I guess that's when she was really done with us because I was the one that introduced her to him.' I thought aloud while biting on my bottom lip. 'I didn't know that he was doggin bitches like that, everytime he was around us he was sweet so I thought ..'

'Ugh.' I sighed, letting my head fall into my hands. 'I'm terrible.'

'You ain't terrible a'ight. Shit happens. ' Meech tried to convince me.

'Yea and it was so long ago. The fact that she's here now has gotta count for somethin.'

'Cause that wasn't the right way to go about it. ' I told her, sitting down on their porch steps, next to her.

'Whatever.' She said, looking away from me.

'Nijia look at me.'

She slowly turned around and looked me in the eyes. 'What chu want me to do ? You want me ta apologize ? I'll apologize, I'm sorry Nijia .. and I mean that shit.' I told her.
