'I miss her.' I heard as I made my way into the kitchen where Meech and Kenny were.

'Miss who ?' I asked, gaining both of their attention.

'Um, his old phone.' Kenny nodded.

I looked at Meech who had tears in his eyes and he wasn't speaking. 'What's wrong wit cho new phone ?'

'I don't want a new phone !' He said with an attitude before storming upstairs.

I sat down at the island, facing Kenny before taking his bag of chips out of his hands and helping myself.

'Or.' He started off, snatching the bag back. 'You can ask.'

'Kenny can I have some of your-'

'Nope.' He cut me off. 'Fuck you.'

'No thank you.'

'You ain't gon be sayin that for long.' He winked and I made a disgusted face at him.

'Ew Kenny.'

'You know I'm the sexiest nigha you know. Ain't no front needed.'

'Yea whatever.' I stood up and went to the refrigerator to get a bottle of water.

'Why you so dressed up on a Sunday ? You'd usually be lookin like one of us today.' Kenny joked, referring to my attire.

'I got someplace to be then I'm going to Avery's.'

'Avery's huh ?' He asked, sounding uninterested.

'Yeah.' I nodded. 'Why ?'

'Nun. ' He shrugged, standing up and getting ready to leave out. 'Lemme walk you tho.'

I reluctantly agreed and stood to my feet, following him out of the front door.

'Where you goin, to Maria's ?'

'Yes. ' I nodded as we walked down the road to a friends house.

'Ion like her.'

'What ?' I giggled . 'Why ?'

'She always givin me attitude. Plus she gay as hell for you.'

'No she is not !' I laughed and shook my head while pushing him a little.

'You told her to meet chu ?'

'No why ?'

'Cause there she go right there.' Kenny pointed out to María, who was coming our way. I knew it was her because she was probably the only Dominican in our neighborhood and her accent was strong.

'Niya !' She hollered and ran up to us, giving me a big hug and spinning me around.

'Thanks sweetie, you lookin good too.'

'Hi Maria.' Kenny cut in, earning a evil glare from Maria.

'Kenny.' She sneered with her arms crossed. 'Don't chu have some thug convention to be at ?'

'I thought I told you to bring me a fajita next time you saw me.'
