We're Older Now

Chapter 2

"So, in conclusion, If you want to sleep in and arrive late to my lecture, it is on your own shoulders and I will not be running around trying to chase up my students" I roll my eyes and sigh. Jaxon and Jemma ended up running late to class because they got so smashed last night. I guess in a way it's a good thing they are getting all of this out of his system now. 

Jemma runs up to sit next to me, soon followed by Jaxon. He's trying to hold in a laugh which makes me laugh the slightest. Those two are such idiots. You may think I find this awkward but I knew Jaxon and I wouldn't last. We're both so young and immature, especially Jaxon at that time. He's changed and it's not like the break up was a horrible event. It was mutual. 

"Something funny Miss Smith?" I shake my head. 

"Good, then there's no reason for you to interrupt my lecture" I nod my head and put my head down, writing my notes out. 

"He was just peachy wasn't he?" Jemma asks as she plops herself on her bed. Jaxon and I laugh and nod our heads. 

"Very, but hey, you guys were late" I point out. 

"Speaking of which, can we borrow your notes?" I shrug and throw my book toward them 

"Thanks! You're the best" I laugh and log onto my computer. 

A notification pops up on my screen saying I have a new email. I log onto it and open up the reply I got from Mr Price. 

To: Piper Smith 

Hey, 

No problems in not emailing, I completely understand, do you mind me asking what problems you had with Jaxon? I haven't settled down, I guess I just haven't found the right girl yet. My mother's not very happy about her only son being single at thirty, haha. Anyway, your sister is doing very well. She's a lot like you. How's uni going? Meet anyone new? Also, when will you be visiting Sydney next? I'd like to catch up with you.

I laugh softly to myself and jump out of my skin when Jaxon's hand lands on my shoulder. I forgot they are here. 

"Hey isn't that our old teacher?" I nod my head and smile. 

"He's always had a thing for you" I roll my eyes. 

"Jaxon back then you thought every guy was going to steal me from you" Jaxon laughs and nods. 

To: Xavier Price 

Hey, 

I understand your mother not liking you being single still, A mother can only be a mother for you long before she wants to be a grandmother. University has been great, it's a lot of fun, this morning Jaxon and Jemma came in late, the professor started giving them a stern talking to. What happened between Jaxon and I wasn't that big, we just grew apart. I was ready to settle down and get my degree where he was still wanting to be out partying and such so we broke up. I haven't met anyone new that has spiked my interest. I'm not sure when I'll be down to see the family next. My dad's having his Fiftyth in about three weeks so I'm going to try to get down then. Maybe I'll surprise Janice and pick her up from school, that way we can talk?

"He sounds so desparate" I groan. 

"Jaxon piss off, he's my former teacher. There's no way either of us will enter that area of relationship" Jaxon laughs and walks back to Jemma's bed. 

"Do you mind staying somewhere else tonight so Jaxon and I can have the room?" I roll my eyes and pick up my laptop. 

"Fine, I'll see you guys tomorrow"
