We're Older Now

Chapter 12

"So, after the ultrasound, we'll go shopping. For you and our little boy." I roll my eyes and laugh softly.

Xavier is convinced we're having a boy. It would make sense since the dominant gene in his family and the gender of our kid depends on him and his genes so he might be right.

"Let's just get neutral colours for now." I say laughing.

He pouts but nods his head and takes my hand in his, leading me to the car. Like the gentleman he is. Xavier opens the car door for me and shuts it after me.

Sliding into the drivers seat excitedly, he takes my hand in his as he starts the car and reverses.

We arrive in no time. I can't help but laugh as Xavier drags me down the halls. Overly excited to see our baby. I mean, I understand and I'm extremely happy and excited to see our baby as well. It's just cute to see Xavier acting like this.

"We have an appointment." Xavier says as soon as he is at the receptionist.

I laugh as shake my head, the reception gives a soft laugh and connects her eyes to mine.

"Sorry about him. He's just excited. We have an appointment under Piper Smith." I say.

She nods and tells us to take a seat. The doctor will call us in soon. I sit down next to Xavier. He takes my hand in his and rests his head on the wall.

"I'm sorry." Xavier says with a sigh.

"For what?" I ask. He sighs and looks at me with a soft smile.

"I know I'm overly excited. It's just, I've been waiting so long to have a child. I've also been waiting so long to have you with me. Knowing I'm having a child with you is the most amazing feeling in the world, it's hard to contain." He says as he leans his forehead on mine.

"Don't be sorry for that. I love how happy and excited you are. Knowing you're this happy, excited and ready to be a father just makes me fall for you even more." I say as I caress his cheek.

Just as Xavier's about to kiss me, the doctor calls us in. I laugh and peck his lips. We stand up together and walk to the room the doctor had entered. I lay down in the chair and take hold of Xavier's had.

"So, how long have you two been together?" The doctor asks.

"We've been together for two months almost." Xavier says.

"Well, your relationship is moving really fast I see." The doctor says chuckling as he looks at the ring on my finger as well as the fact that I'm pregnant.

"We've known each other for years but just started going out." Xavier says as he takes hold of my hand.

"Fair enough. So how old are you two?" He asks as he preps the machine and puts the gel on my stomach. I groan and gasp at the coolness of the gel.

"Well, I'm thirty, and she's twenty-two." Xavier says.

"Cradle snatcher ha?" The doctor asks chuckling. Xavier chuckles softly and shrugs.

"I guess you could say that." Xavier says blushing.

"Alright. Ready to see your baby?" We both nod eagerly.

Soon, a small picture comes up on the screen and a fast, strong heart beat can be heard. The doctor point to the screen, pointing out our little baby.

"So, when your baby is a bit ore developed, at the four months mark, I can tell you the sex if you want to know." Xavier and I nod our head and thank the doctor.

"Do you want to just hold this on her stomach while I grow print off the pictures and make a copy of the recording?" The doctor asks as he puts Xavier's hand on the small mouse like object that is on the gel on my stomach.
