One True Love

Chapter 4

Sleeping in later than intended, we jumped out of bed when we realized that it was 10:15. Checkout time was in 45 minutes and we would have to hurry to make it out of here on time.

Throwing my hair in a ponytail, I quickly got dressed and made my way towards the bathroom to put on some make-up while Scotty got dressed and worked to get our bags packed.

Coming out of the bathroom, I threw my morning stuff in the bag and put it with the rest, before walking around the room and checking under the bed and in the night stand. As I did this, I felt Scotty watching me. Standing up from checking under the bed, I crossed my arms and asked him, "What?"

He smiled, "What are you doing baby?"

Feeling frustrated that he was just standing there, I said, "I'm double checking to make sure we have everything before we leave," opening the night stand once more.

Still, just standing there, he was propped up against the wall, his arms crossed wearing the red NC State shirt I had given him for his birthday along with his white cap turned backwards on his head. He was smiling and looking at me in quite a way that he had not before, causing me to ask...."What Scotty? Why are you looking at me like that?"

Still smiling, he said, "I just love learning all these new things about you. Up until now, I did not know this routine, but now I do. I just look forward to learning more, that's all."

Causing me to smile, I moved closer to him, "That's real sweet Scotty, but if we don't hurry up and get out of here, they're going to charge you for another night."

He laughed, "Wait, are you sure that you've checked everything?"

Punching him slightly in the arm, I smiled, "Come on, Scotty."

Motioning towards the door, he said, "Ladies first."

As I made my way forward, I could feel his eyes on me as I walked. Opening the door, I held it open as he walked through with the hotel cart.

Making our way towards the lobby, I watched him check us out and a sense of sadness overcame me. This hotel had become a special place for us, and this weekend seemed to have went by so fast. Before we left, he had told me that this would be a weekend to remember for the both of us, and indeed it was. Once we came here as friends and left as a couple. Now, we came as a couple, and we were leaving engaged. Yes, I had found my forever and I couldn't help but smile as he walked towards me...."Ready to go?," he asked.

Nodding yes, for some reason I was unable to speak as we made our way towards his truck.

Pulling in at his house in Garner, I breathed a deep sigh, causing him to reach for my hand. Looking out the window, I saw his parents' vehicles along with Ashley and Trent's. Obviously, they were all waiting for us to get here.

"You okay?," he asked

Smiling, I looked towards him, "Yes, I'm fine."

He smiled, "Okay, well whatever happens in there today, whatever my mom says, remember I told you to not worry about anything."

Reaching for the door handle, I simply said, "I know," before jumping down from his truck.

Walking towards the house, Ashley ran out and met us halfway. Surprisingly, she ran straight towards me, squeezing me so tightly I almost couldn't breathe and causing me to reach for her hands and pull them away.

"Oh my gosh, I'm so excited y'all are finally here. Gabs, you're gonna be my sister," she shrieked in an extremely high pitch voice.

"Good to see you too," Scotty smirked.
