Leaving the park, we pulled back into the apartment complex at twenty minutes til eleven. Knowing that it was a weekday and that we both had classes in the morning, a part of me hoped that he would not want to come in. Then again, tonight had been wonderful and I wasn't sure I was ready for it to be over.
Shifting his truck in to park, we sat there in silence for a moment and I wondered what was going to happen next. Was he going to try to kiss me? Did I want him to? What would I do if he did? Feeling my palms becoming sweaty, I rubbed them on my pants thinking of the fact that I had never been kissed.
Finally, he broke the silence and stretched his arm across the seat, "Thank you for tonight Ashley, I had a wonderful time."
I smiled and leaned against his arm on the back of the seat...."So did I Austin, see you again tomorrow?," I asked
Running his fingers through my hair, he said, "Definitely. Would you like me to walk you to the door?"
I laughed, "No, that's okay. I'm a big girl, I'll be okay."
Smiling, he looked directly in to my eyes..."Well, I'll tell you one thing. I'm not leaving this parking space until I see you safely inside."
Sitting up straighter, I began to reach for the door handle, only stopping when I felt him touch my arm. Turning towards him, I felt my heart skip a beat. Pulling me towards him, he wrapped his arms around me and buried his face in my hair, rubbing my shoulders up and down...."Thank you for coming into my life," he whispered
Not saying anything, I squeezed him tightly, feeling his arms release me and I watched as he leaned against the window, looking towards me...."Go on now, you need your rest for class tomorrow."
I smiled, "Text me when you get home?"
Smiling, he brought his two forefingers to his forehead and pointed them towards me, almost like an officer does in the military, signaling to me that he would.
Shaking my head, I laughed and opened the door making my way to the apartment. Walking up the stairs, I looked back down towards the parking lot and saw Austin still sitting there, just as he said he would. Almost feeling his eyes watching me as I moved, I fumbled around in my purse for my keys. Finding them, I unlocked the door and turned to wave bye to him. It was only then that he began to pull away.

Walking into the apartment, I saw that the T.V. was on, but Scotty and Gabi were asleep on the couch. Putting my keys and purse on the table, I went into the kitchen to fix me some water. Apparently making too much noise getting ice, I heard movement coming from the living room. Turning the water off, I made my way back in that direction to see Gabi stretching her arms above her head, Scotty still asleep.
Noticing me walk in, she said, in a sleepy tone, "Hey girl, did you have a good time tonight?"
Smiling, I took a sip of my water, reached for my phone and made my way towards the chair. Pulling my feet underneath me Indian style, I looked out the window and back to her..."Tonight was one of the best nights I've had in a very long time," I said, looking down at my phone
Hearing her chuckle a little, she asked, "What are you doing Ash?"
Looking confused, I glanced towards her, "What do you mean?"
Nodding towards to my phone, she laughed, "Why do you keep checking your phone?"
Feeling embarrassed, I muttered in an almost too low voice, "He said he would text me when he made it home."
Again, she laughed, "Girl, he just left. Give the boy time."
I laughed, "I suppose you're right."
