Pulling the dress out of the box, I laid it flat and climbed on top of the bed. Crossing my legs underneath me, I carefully opened the letter. Throwing myself back on the plush pillows, I scanned over the letter before reading it completely. It was now coming up on four-thirty in the afternoon and I had still not heard from Scotty. Finding that a little strange, I decided I would call him after I finished the letter. Bringing it closer to me, I began to read...

"Hello sweetheart. I can assume that you are back from Kleinfeld now and you're in the room reading this letter. I hope that you found your dream dress today, but I also hope that you know I think you look beautiful in just a t shirt and jeans. You're probably wondering about the items in the box as you should be. I truly hope you like the dress as I had to enlist Paige's help for this one. You see, I'm pretty sure that she was late today to your appointment and she most likely told you she had to deal with a client but in actuality she was putting the finishing touches on this package and making sure it would be delivered before you made it back."

I paused and re-read that section again. How did he know about that? Had he planned things so perfectly that he knew how it would all play out?

Continuing the letter, I read, "I know you're probably smiling right now and oh how I wish I could see that beautiful smile of yours. You're also questioning yourself and most likely wondering if anyone is actually telling you the truth this weekend. Don't worry sweetheart, everything is going just as planned. Now, this is what I want you to do. Slip on the dress, fix your hair just right, put on your makeup and be waiting in the lobby at 6:30 tonight, alone. Walter will be there to pick you up. Love, Your Man, Scotty."

Finishing the letter, I threw it off to the side and picked up the dress once more, examining it, noting the intricate details of the flowers woven into the lace. It was a truly beautiful dress, but why was I going to wear it? Where was I going? Why did he say to be waiting alone?

Putting the dress down, I picked up my phone and dialed Scotty's number. Hearing it ring more than three times, I wondered if he was going to answer. Unsure of what time his show was tonight, I wondered if he was busy and was unable to talk.

Finally, after what seemed like forever, he answered..."Hello," is all he said.

Hearing his voice made me smile and as much as I was enjoying this trip, I couldn't wait for us both to be back home and to be together again...."Hey yourself, what are you doing? I haven't heard from you all day."

He laughed, "Oh I'm sorry baby. I didn't want to bother you today, I wanted you to enjoy every minute of it. The guys and I happened upon a golf course here in Trenton and we hit a few balls for a couple hours. Now, we were just finishing up sound check when you called."

Hearing the key slide in the door, I knew Ashley and the rest of the girls were coming in. Standing up, I threw the top of the box over the dress and other items in the box and made my way outside to the balcony before they even stepped inside...."Oh I see, what time is your show tonight? Do you think there will be a lot of people there?"

After a few seconds passed, he said, "The show starts at seven tonight, this venue holds 1500 people and we are sold out! I'm pretty pumped about that."

"It doesn't make you nervous performing in front of all those people?," I asked

He laughed, "No sweetheart, if it did," he paused, "Well, I wouldn't have a job."

After considering that for a few seconds, I said, "Well, not to change the subject but where exactly am I going at 6:30 tonight?"

"What do you mean?," he asked

I smiled, "Don't play with me McCreery. I got the package at the hotel this afternoon."

Hearing him breathe deeply into the phone, he said, "Yes, I know. Don't worry sweetheart, just get dressed and Walter will take you to where you need to go. You'll be in good hands. Besides this trip is suppose to be just for you isn't it?"
