January 2012:
It was a new year and that meant new beginnings which consisted of a whole new set of classes for the semester, getting married, and moving into our house. We definitely had a lot on our plate, but we were up for the challenge.
Finishing up my first semester of college, I ended with a 3.6 GPA average and I had started my second semester with high hopes that I would do well. Taking more classes geared towards my career, I was looking forward to getting this semester started. Scotty had opted to take all online classes this semester so that he could focus more on touring and also on spending more time at home. We had recently shot the video that he asked me to be in at our old high school, Garner High, and currently the song was soaring to the top of the charts and I was proud of his success.
As much as I did want to focus on school, there was still the wedding that we had to tend to and with Scotty being gone a lot, it was pretty much all left up to me which one can assume made my second semester of college go fairly quickly with all the planning that had to be done.

Having a destination wedding was not an easy task and there were times when I wished I would have listened to Mrs. Judy, Scotty's mom, and gotten married in the church. Still, this is what we both wanted and everything was going to be just perfect on our big day.
Choosing the bridesmaid dresses was probably the easiest of all tasks as all of the girls fell in love with the second dress they tried on. We had went to David's Bridal on a late Saturday afternoon and as much as I would of liked for the girls to have gotten their dress from Kleinfeld as well, it just wasn't possible. Always having heard horror stories of all of the drama associated with purchasing bridesmaid dresses, I was thankful when they all agreed so quickly. The consultants were very helpful and in the end we walked out having purchased a long empire waist gown with lace straps and an open back in the dark purple color that would match the sash on my wedding dress.
When Scotty was home, I took full advantage of having him here to help and he was so very helpful for which I was very thankful. Most grooms would propose and then be done, but he seemed to have a genuine interest in all of the details of our day. Registering at Bed, Bath and Beyond and a few other places, the sales clerk at all of the stores should have known better than to give Scotty a registry gun because he was like a kid in a candy store registering for things we would never use or didn't need and there were often times that I would have to go behind him and mark certain things off the list. Still, I was happy that he wanted to participate in such things and I didn't have to drag him with me to the stores.
Having a destination wedding, there were many days spent on the phone and on the computer trying to find the best florist, photographer, and caterer and he also helped in these areas. I did not make a single decision without asking his opinion of it first and I liked that because it felt as if I wasn't planning this entire wedding by myself.

The next few months consisted of planning the wedding, attending various wedding showers given to us by church members, family, and friends, and trying our best to keep up with our classes.
Before we knew it, we had taken our last final and it was the month of May. Being the month that we started dating and our one year anniversary, Scotty decided to take off a weekend from touring and take me to Wilmington. As much as we wanted to relax, this would be the only and last time we would be here before our wedding, and so there were many things to do.
Meeting with the caterer, we tasted a variety of sample wedding cakes before finally deciding on the flavor of raspberry cream with vanilla icing for my cake and a graham cracker cake with chocolate ganache, marshmallows, and vanilla cream icing for his. My cake would be four tiered with purple satin ribbon covering where each layer met and a rhinestone broach in the center. Topping the cake would be an assortment of purple flowers with a single M directly in the center. His would be three tiered with chocolate Hershey kisses lining each later of the cake and melted chocolate syrup would be provided in small bowls in case guests wanted to devour themselves with more chocolate, in all actuality, his cake was most likely every guy's dream, who didn't like chocolate?
