"Telling a lie to save something valuable isn't a crime, it is so sweet that you had to lie"
Third persons POV
Camila had her plan all set—disturb her brother, Zach, as usual. But as she approached his room, something strange happened. She paused, hearing laughter, but it wasn't Zach's usual villainous cackle. She frowned. Did Zach sneak Sam over? Slowly, she pushed the door open, peeking inside.**
There he was, sprawled on his bed, holding his phone up with a goofy grin on his face. And was that... a girl's voice? Camila's frown deepened—had to be Amal. Without another thought, she launched herself onto Zach's bed, earning a groan and a jolt from Zach as he almost dropped his phone.
"Hey! I'm talking here!" Zach protested, trying to shield his phone from Camila's prying eyes. With a frantic scramble, Zach hung up the call faster than a guilty suspect.
"Hey! I wanted to talk to her!" Camila pouted, crossing her arms. Zach sighed, knowing there was no winning against Camila when she was in full pest mode. "Can you just... let me have a conversation without you butting in, for once? What do you even want?"
Camila smirked, leaning in close. "Tell her I said she should get well soon."
"Why?" Zach asked, looking at her like she'd just declared she was joining the circus.
"Because I'm worried," Camila replied with a saccharine smile before skipping out of the room, leaving Zach staring at the door in disbelief.
Zach rolled his eyes and brought the phone back to his face, where Amal was waiting with a knowing smile. "Sorry about that. You know how she is."
"Sorry for hanging up, but my siste—"
"Say no more. She seems fun." Amal cut him off with a laugh. She'd heard all about Camila and found the girl absolutely delightful.
"You say that because you don't live with her," Zach replied with a grin, though there was a hint of fondness in his voice. He settled back against his pillows, more relaxed now that it was just the two of them again. "So, what were we talking about?"
"The doctor said I can go home tomorrow," Amal announced, a small smile tugging at her lips.
Zach's tired eyes lit up. "That's great!"
Zach's eyes brightened. "That's awesome! Finally, you'll be out of that place."
"Yeah, but it's been kind of peaceful here. I'm not really looking forward to everything that comes next," Amal admitted, her voice softening as a shadow of worry crossed her face.
Zach's expression turned serious, his concern evident. "You're worried about the court stuff, huh?"
"Yeah. The police officer came by earlier, asking about the incident again for the millionth time, and it brought back a lot of memories I'd rather forget," Amal said, her tone more subdued now, the weight of her past clearly pressing down on her.
Zach nodded, his own mood sobering. "I get that. Sometimes talking about it feels like you're reliving the whole thing all over again."
"But I guess it's necessary," Amal sighed, though the resignation in her voice was laced with a deep, unspoken fear. "I just wish it didn't have to be so complicated."
Zach, sensing her distress, tried to lighten the mood. "Hey, if it makes you feel any better, Camila's been asking about you a lot lately."
"Your sister?" Amal asked, her smile returning, touched by the thought.
