"Just because our beliefs are different, doesn't mean that we aren't all humans"
Zach's POV
Zach interrupts Amal's tranquil moment by the lake, "So, what's this harem thing you keep mentioning?"
"Harem?" Amal echoes, her eyebrows knitting together in confusion. "Is that like a Shakespearean play or something?"
"Not quite. I remember you mentioning it when I grabbed your hand that time with Anaya and her crew..." Zach explains
"Oh, haraam! It means things forbidden in my religion," Amal clarifies, her smile reflecting both her amusement and patience.
"Grabbing your hand is forbidden?" Zach asks, raising an eyebrow in disbelief. Amal grins, realizing how her atheist friend might not fully grasp the concept.
There are many things that are considered haraam, like how we're alone together right now," Amal says, making Zach frown in genuine curiosity, wow they also hae rules on how to live your life too?, wow.
"Why is that a problem?" Zach asks, leaning in.
"Because when a guy and a girl are alone together, the devil is said to be with them," Amal explains, her tone serious, he stared at her like she had lost her mind.
"The devil? Are you seriously telling me there's a devil sitting next to us?" Zach laughs, clearly not buying into the concept. however Amal knows that he is not making fun of her but he was raised to not believe in God, so how would he believe in The devil?.
"Yes" Amal states making him to raise a brow
"Oo prove it to me" he says teasingly making Amal send him a determined look
"Yes," Amal replies, unphased.
"Okay, prove it to me," Zach challenges with a mischievous grin.
"Have any nonsensical thoughts crossed your mind?" Amal asks bluntly.
"nonsensical thoughts? Like what?" Zach asks, genuinely puzzled.
"Thoughts about me, for example?" Amal's tone is confident, but her cheeks are flushed.
"Are you trying to gauge if I've been thinking about you?" Zach retorts, not missing the opportunity to tease her.
"N-no! I just—" Amal stammers, her face turning a deeper shade of red.
"Relax, I was just joking. Go ahead," Zach says with a playful grin.
"It is believed that the devil would start to whisper things and make you have this strange thoughts about the person next to you, who is of a different sex so  My religion avoids it for safety," Amal explains.
"Then why are we sitting here, if it's haraam?" Zach asks, his curiosity piqued.
Amal's mouth opens, but she's momentarily at a loss for words. She looks at Zach, who has an amused smirk on his face.
"Stop staring. I already know I'm cute," he quips.
"Shut up! I'm going home," Amal says, standing up with a defensive blush.
"No, don't go! I was just messing with you," Zach pleads, laughing. Amal glares at him, but her irritation is mixed with a reluctant smile.
"You're so annoying," Amal says with a smirk.
"I know. I just like seeing you get all riled up," Zach admits, his grin widening.
"You're a sadist," Amal says, shaking her head, though she can't help but laugh.
