"And you haven't had any more of these dreams in the last few days?" General Blackburn asked.
"No, General," said Oscar. "Not since the one about the Bronze Mountains. What about you, have you found anything out about it?"
"I have," the General answered. "It wasn't a dream, it was the future, and it wasn't the Abyss showing it to you."
"Then what was?" asked Oscar.
"I have an idea," said General Blackburn. "When you stare into the darkness, sometimes, there's a chance that the light will actually outshine the Abyss, and show you visions of random things rather than something that hurts you. Sometimes you see the past, sometimes, the present, and in rare cases, the future. You told me this vision involved you as a Squad Captain, you know two members of your team, but there were three others?"
"That's right," Oscar answered.
"Guardian squads of six are rare," said Blackburn. "And what did you say you and they were fighting?"
"These monsters, General," Oscar answered. "They were twice our size, they wore black armor, and had, I think black dragon heads."
"How sure are you that they were dragon heads?" asked the General.
"I've heard of the Draconians, General," said Oscar. "I know that the gold ones went extinct fifteen years ago, but I thought the black ones went extinct ten thousand years ago."
"Black-scaled Draconians?" General Blackburn asked.
"Yes, General," said Oscar. "Why am I having visions about a future with them?"
"I wouldn't worry about it that much," the General assured. "Not yet, anyway. We have enough to worry about."
"With all due respect, General, I woke up when I died," said Oscar. "If this was a glimpse into the future..."
"No, no, no, no," Blackburn interrupted. "You may have received that image from light, but that doesn't mean it doesn't play tricks on you. The future is uncertain. What you saw can be changed. For now, just focus more on your attunement. You still have yet to control the power in you."
"Yes, General," said Oscar. "Thanks for seeing me."
