It was three weeks since word of Commander Vestarr's execution and Trevor Karvine's death reached Ice Spear. Oscar was in despair for three days after that, since he knew Trevor. By this time, he was more powerful and attuned with his aura-sensitivity, and he could barely sense concern from his friends, who shared his anger at the Commander's wrongful death. General Blackburn and Major Lawson had gone to Snowfall to meet with Lord Karlon and took a dozen Guardian squads, six Captain Knights, and six Major Knights, including Lawson. In the past three weeks, he was spending more time in Ice Spear's sanctuary, becoming more powerful as each day passed.
"What was it Blackburn said?" Michael snapped. "King Vorian wanted the Guardians to submit?"
"That's it," said Yazmin.
"So he murders our Commander?" asked Michael. "How stupid does he think he is?"
"And Prince Roderick," Oscar added, with anger. "He killed Trevor."
"I don't know who that is," said Michael.
"He was a friend of mine," Oscar informed. "He saved me from those Lysander Knights I told you I got beat up by a few months ago."
"Oh," said Amanda. "I'm sorry."
"I don't know what we're going to do, guys," said Oscar. "We're at war, and we aren't going with the Vestarrs."
"I thought the Guardians couldn't," argued Yazmin. "Political quarrels and all that."
"Maybe it's different when our Commander gets murdered," Amanda suggested. "Besides, we'll be ready soon."
"We still have two whole months," Michael reminded. "Anything could happen between now and then."
"If we go south now, all we'll do is get ourselves killed," Oscar argued. "Ice Spear isn't the only Guardian outpost in Aetherian. We're still recruits, remember?"
"Oscar's right," Amanda agreed. "We just have to be patient."
"Okay," Michael admitted. Oscar just as restless as Michael was. Could it be that the war that started weeks ago was the same war in his dream he had around that time?
