Nicole's POV
I woke up from my slumber, then I saw Violet sitting beside me. I gave her a light tap on the head. She turned around, a bit surprised, then she hugged me.
"Are you okay?" she asked.
"Yes, I'm okay. What are you doing here?"
"I told you, I want to be your friend," she said with a smile on her face that was creeping me out.
"You're nota lesbian are you?" I asked jokingly.
"No! I just want to help you," she was so cute when she said this.
I burst out laughing. When I was able to control myself I told her, "Thank you."
"Will you still clean the pool? KC will be there," she was worrying again.
"I'm sure he won't go there. So let's go!"
Then we went to the pool and sure enough, he wasn't there. But my chest started to tighten again. I was breathing heavily. Then, as I tried to breathe normally, I saw Violet looking at me. I acted like there was nothing wrong with me. When I was able to control my breathing, I popped a cigarette.
"Hey Nicole, you shouldn't be smoking!"
"Just one."
"What if the pres sees you?!"
"It's fine. Don't worry about it," then I winked at her and she began to clean the pool. After I finished the cigarette, I went and helped Violet. When we finished, it was already six-thirty in the evening. Violet's phone rang and I overheard the person on the other line that he was waiting outside the school gate, so I accompanied her to the front gate were a car was idling. It was her dad.
She hugged me again, kissed my cheek and said, "See you tomorrow."
"See you tomorrow and thank you again."
"Are we friends now?" I was shocked at her question and didn't want to say yes because she might misinterpret it that we became friends because she helped me.
So my response was, "I'll think about it," then I blew a kiss at her and went home.
