Nicole's POV

I tried to remember everything that happened yesterday. Clyde was really good at basketball, I could tell. But, why does Clyde and Alex always glare at each other? Whatever the reason is, I hope it's not serious.

I wore my P.E. uniform then went to school. I got in the front gate. As usual, the guard inspected my bag. Like... seriously? If I intend to bring something illegal in school, I won't put it in my bag. I got through and went to my club. I got to our club room and saw everyone playing. A girl saw me.

"Hey! You're a club member right? Let's play," she said cheerfully.

"What's your name?" I asked.

"Oh... silly me. My name is Mary. Pleasure to meet you?"

"Nicole. Nicole Flores."

"What a nice name you got. Now let's play!"

She set up the chess board. She put two chess pieces behind her back then concealed it in her hands. I chose the left one. It contained the white piece. I will be moving first.

I told her I was not good at chess, but not too bad either. Just average. I was getting nervous now. We played a long thirty-minute chess. I won.

"Wow! You're good!" she said.

"Thank you," I humbly said.

"Vice pres! She is good! She beat me."

Huh? What's going on? A girl walked towards us.

"I see you've beaten Mary. She ranks third in our club. Are you sure Mary you didn't let her win?" the girl said.

I was a bit shocked with what she said. I beat the third best!

"Yes ma'am! I didn't let her win. I played my A-game. By the way, her name is Nicole," Mary said.

"I see. My name is Paula. Pleasure to meet you, Nicole. I'm the vice president here. I'm the second best," Paula said.

"Who's the first?" I asked.

"The president. Sadly we haven't seen his or her face yet," Paula said.

So the president here is like Clyde?

"Also, you could only challenge him or her to a game if you beat me... and you can only do it twice a month. I issue challenges to the president twice a month," Paula said.

"Have you beaten prez?" I asked.

She frowned.

"Sadly, she hasn't," Mary said, "but we think prez is a boy, because he wears a boy's uniform when he goes to the challenges."

Then suddenly, we heard a transmission.

"Paging Miss Nicole Flores. Please go to the principal's office. I repeat. Paging Miss Nicole Flores. Please go to the principal's office."

What did I do? Well, maybe the principal just wants to talk to me. No hassle because his office is on the first floor of the school. I hurriedly went to the principal's office. When I got there, I knocked on the door.

"Come in, it's open," the principal said.

I opened the door and went in.

"Why did you call me sir?" I asked.

"Sorry to disturb you, Miss Flores, but you see, we need some more materials. Could I ask you to fetch these for us?"

He handed me a piece of paper. Written was a list of materials. But the mall is far from here. I need to take a train in order to get there.
