Nicole's POV
While we were walking, I realized that the umbrella was too small for two people, but not a single raindrop touched my shoulder. I was on the right side of the road, (practically the safe side.) I looked at Clyde. His shoulder was really wet. We were like one foot apart. He was tilting the umbrella more to my side. He might get sick and it's going to be my fault. I locked arms with him. I looked at him and his reaction was... well, he was quite surprised.
"Miss Flores, what are you doing?" he asked.
"So you won't get wet, silly," I replied.
Then we continued walking. I realized that my chest was bumping his arm. It was quite embarrassing and I could see that this was making him feel more awkward. Well, who wouldn't do that? We continued walking I realized once again, he's really damn tall.
"You know, prez, you should donate some of your height to the unfortunate."
He laughed. That was the first time I saw him laugh. I felt elated. I wanted to see him laugh again.
"So, are you telling me to give you some of my height?" he asked. "We know very well where your height went," he added.
Wait... what was he talking about? I took the umbrella and pushed him.
"You pervert!" I shouted.
"Why did you push me?! Now I'm wet."
"What do you mean, 'we know where your height went.'" I felt so embarrassed. I looked at him again and he was holding onto his knee.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
"Yeah. I'm okay, and sorry for the joke."
"You know, for a man who I thought was clean, pure and self-centered, I never thought that you would have a perverted side as well," I said.
"Well, I'm a man, too," he replied.
"Such a lousy excuse, hmph!"
He took back the umbrella and we continued walking. That's right, he is a man, too. Wait does that mean he sees me as a woman now? remembered what happened a while ago... in the kitchen. Dang it! Now, I can't look him in the eye.
"Uhm, Miss Flores, why do you always hide your face?"
"What do you mean?"
"For example, Miss Flores you are so beautiful."
When I heard this, I covered my face with my hair... again.
"You see. That reaction again."
"I'm not used to being complimented you see," I said.
"Oh, I see."
"Wait, I'll ask you something, prez."
"What is it?"
"Will you get angry if I just call you Clyde?"
"No. Why would I?"
"Can I call you that from now on?"
"Sure, why not?"
"Second question. Why are you being kind to me now, but later, revert back to the cranky prez that I know."
"Miss Flores, don't think of this as an act of kindness. I'm just returning the favor for what you did a while ago."
"Third question." Then he stopped me.
"Hey. I only asked you one question and you already asked me two."
Well, he does have a point... and the cranky prez is back. I'll just save my questions for later, I guess. A few more moments and we arrived at my place.
"Would you like to sleep here again?" I asked. Why would I hesitate to ask? He already slept here.
"Thanks for the offer, but I need to finish some student council work."
"Ah, I see. Well, good night, Clyde," I said with a smile.
"Good night, Miss Flores. Take care," he said smiling as well.
Clyde's POV
As she entered the house, I walked outside the gate and noticed that the rain had already stopped. "Maybe I shouldn't have joked around with her," I thought as I walked back home. I was passing this alley when suddenly, I saw a figure coming towards me. I held a key in the middle of my fingers for self-defense. Damn it! I'm really tired right now. I won't be able to defend myself properly.
As the figure passed under a street light, I recognized the suspicious figure. It was Alex. He saw me, too and continued walking towards my direction.
"Hi Clyde! How are you?" he asked.
"I'm fine. 'Bout you?"
"I'm good as always, Clyde. By the way, your school is dope."
"Thanks for the compliment." I returned the key in my pocket.
"May I ask you something, Clyde?"
"As long as I could answer it, then, be my guest."
"Last Thursday, when we visited your school, I happened to bump into a girl. It was my fault, I admit it, because I wasn't paying attention to where I was going."
"Hmm... okay?"
"The only problem is, I wasn't able to ask her name. She was pretty. Not to mention, she has a voluptuous body. I would like to... you know... get "frisky" with her. You know us, Clyde. We were heartthrobs back then."
"Yeah, but you were the only one getting the ladies though. So name your business already."
"I asked the faculty about that girl. They only said that you were tutoring her. So, you being the president and being her tutor, you might know her name. I hope you're not in that kind of relationship, Clyde, because if you are, I'll steal her... like taking candy from a baby Clyde. You know... like the MVP award."
What the fuck?! He's talking about Nicole. I was clenching my fist really tight.
"Don't do your mischief here, Alex. Students here are 'pure'." I was trying my best not to punch this bastard.
"You haven't answered my question, Clyde? Are you afraid of something? I noticed you're all ready to punch me," he grinned.
I really wanted to beat the crap out of this person!
"Are you raising your war flag at me, Alex Cruz?"
"Oh... Clyde's a big boy now. So what's her name?"
"I can't tell you that information. It's against school policy."
"Well, sooner or later, I will get to her. Good night, Clyde," he said as he left.
I went home, dropped my things, and took a shower. I went to my usual spot... the sofa.
I can't tell him her name. Same old Alex. Arrogant and egotistic, because his father is a politician.
I opened up my laptop, but I couldn't do anything. I was so furious. I know the things he did to women. He gets off the hook easily because of power. This is how shitty this world has become. I hope Nicole won't be a victim of his sweet lies. I turned off my laptop and went to sleep.
