throughout the course of the day, jaemin found out he shared 4 classes with chenle and 2 with a friend he made through him named donghyuck.

donghyuck was sweet. very outgoing and loud, but still sweet nonetheless. jaemin was glad he met the both of them.

maybe they were all he really needed to survive the rest high school.

maybe a boyfriend too, but he knew he'd never get one. at least he thought he wouldn't.

he can't see into the future.

it was 6:19pm when jaemin reaches the seven-eleven he worked at. a little late because donghyuck and chenle held him back from going anywhere for 2 hours claiming they wanted to hang out with him more.

school got out at 4, and because jaemin didn't want to go back to his aunt's house that he was now going to start referring to as the pound, he spent the next 2 hours with chenle and donghyuck at the park.

but as much as jaemin wanted to stay with them longer, he knew he needed money so he told them they could hang out more on the weekend. with that, donghyuck skipped away with chenle happily.

jaemin smiles thinking of it as he walks inside the convenience store, going straight to the employee restroom to change his shirt.

there really wasn't a dress code for pants. jaehyun didn't really care what he wore as long as he was wearing something.

it's not like anyone was gonna look below his waist anyways.

with his shirt on and named tag pinned, jaemin leaves the bathroom and over behind the counter where his shift officially started.

thank god his teachers didn't give him any assignments on the first day. he remembers when he was a freshman, 4 of his teachers gave him homework.

things change over time though. junior and senior teachers probably just don't care as much.

quietly minding his own business, eyes fixed on anything that could provide him any sort of entertainment, the silence inside of the store that was broke by the occasional fan in the fridge kicking on, jaemin's head is suddenly filled with all kinds of negativity.

a million things run through his mind. what was gonna happen to him when he went back to the pound? would he look like he took 15 rounds in a boxing ring with manny pacquiao and lost all of them? kicked out? forced to stay in the basement?

that wasn't too far off considering the fact he was once left to starve in said basement for a week when he was 11 for accidentally breaking a vase.

the only reason he was able to make it out of that alive was because he managed to sneak out through one of the windows and alert the police. they didn't do anything, of course. had they done anything, jaemin would've probably been in the foster care system by now.

which honestly sounded better than whatever hell he was living in now.

well, the police did do a welfare check now that he was thinking about it. but all that did was get him forced into his room for another week. at least he had snacks and the tap from the bathroom there.
