makeup.

jaemin doesn't know much about it, but he most definitely needed it to cover up the large purple mark that had made its debut under his eye.

all that icing he did for the last 2 days wasn't helpful. at all.

there was no way he was going to walk out of the house and onto school property with a big purple, swollen spot under his eye.

he knows that it would still be visible even with makeup on, but only if someone got up close and personal with him. the chances of that happening were slim and none, so jaemin wasn't worried about the coverage of whatever he bought.

going into that sephora was crazy... jaemin did not know makeup could get so expensive.

glancing down at the products he had and a tutorial on his phone, jaemin makes do with the items he had bought with the little money left he grabbed from his savings.

and as for the situation with his aunt wanting 'her' money early, she obviously didn't get it.

jaemin was practically on his knees begging to get his check early and work extra hours for the inconvenience, but his boss, mr. jung yoonoh (who preferred to be called jaehyun) only raised an eyebrow and said no.

no because he didn't want to be unfair to the other employees, and no because he smelt something fishy.

with his response, he called jaemin's aunt and asked her why jaemin was so desperate for money to which she replied with something along the lines of:

"he needs it for more school supplies."

which was a whole lie because jaemin had enough money from previous jobs such as walking the neighbors dogs and babysitting when his aunt and cousins weren't home. so no, he didn't need the money for school supplies.

his aunt and cousins (which went by the names of felix and yuna) were always going somewhere. in fact, they went to busan for the whole month of june; leaving jaemin home alone.

that's when he decided to make extra money.

even though he was only 15 at the beginning of the summer, jaemin somehow convinced jaehyun to let him work since he'd be 16 in august anyway.

a little risky on jaehyun's part, so he only let jaemin work 4 hours a night. abiding by the law surrounding minors under 16 working (even if jaemin was begging him to work longer hours.) 

jaehyun let him decide his own hours after he turned 16, not wanting to see him break down again like the first time he said no.

bless his heart, jaemin was always grateful.

after a couple months, jaehyun and jaemin grew closer, but jaemin never told him about his home problems. not that he didn't trust the older, but because well... jaehyun was a bit reactive. the last thing jaemin needed was jaehyun to show up at his aunt's house with a weapon of his choice.

hence, the reason he was clueless to why he needed the money early.

jaemin didn't get it, walked home empty handed, and got punished the moment he walked through the door.
