i could never hate you. even if it seemed like i did.

renjun raised an intrigued eyebrow at lucas who was currently folding one of the napkins he had taken out of the dispenser sitting neatly on the table.

it slightly reminded him of when jisung got his hand stuck in one when they were out for lunch, and least to say, it did make the corners of his lips tug up. slightly though. the only person who noticed it was jisung who was sitting in the booth beside theirs.

wiggling his eyebrows and tracing imaginary hearts, renjun scowled at him, his smile being peeled off his face by the actions of the boy two seats in front of him.

why was he even doing that? it's not like he and lucas were on some sort of date. right?

he just wanted free bubble tea and a box of pocky. yeah, that's it.

focusing back on what was in front of him, renjun had realized that lucas was finally done with what he was doing and with a bright smile, the older boy held out the napkin he had folded into a pretty origami rose.

"i learned it when i was in seventh grade." lucas giggled sweetly, "i thought i'd make you one since i didn't have the time to get you actual flowers. i hope you like it."

renjun's cheeks lit up, this wasn't a date! why was lucas treating it like one? they barely know each other for gods sake.

not knowing how to initially react to the sweet gesture, renjun took in a sharp breath as he reached out to take the small form of art and swore to his lord and savior jesus christ that he saw a spark when his fingers brushed against the basketball players own.

"y-you know!" renjun suddenly shouted wanting to ignore the frantic beat of his heart, lucas hummed as he rested his chin in the palm of his hand as if he was waiting for him to continue.

"uh... they say you're not writing a romance right when the characters have to kiss to realize they're in love." the younger completed as lucas clucked his tongue. "wasn't that how jaemin and jeno realized they were in love with each other?"

renjun nodded, "yeah."

"so what you're saying is, they didn't fall in love the correct way?"

"well no," renjun started, "it's just that if they were in some sort of rom-com fanfic between two kpop idols who are most likely heterosexual, the story wouldn't be delivered correctly."

lucas snorted, "isn't that what we're in?"

"what?"

"nothing."

renjun blinked at lucas who was now interested in their topic about writing. "you know, sometimes, you have to plan a story out before you write it. and not write it on impulse."

"is that a personal attack?" renjun asked as lucas shook his head. "of course not, just a little advice."

"you could have the greatest plot in the history of man and still turn it to shit without proper planning. take jeno and jaemin for example, if somehow they were in a story, do you know how unrealistic their love story is?"
