"you should go watch jeno's basketball game tonight." donghyuck told jaemin who was currently eating the lunch taeil packed him.

it was cute. taeil had shaped the rice inside the plastic container to look like that totoro character and used seaweed bits for the details.

jaemin was fawning over how cute it was for the first 10 minutes of lunch that he nearly forgot he actually had to eat it. and  what made it even more cute was how taeil put a note in his lunchbox saying:

you better have a  good day :( eat well, buttercup. ily.

it really felt like taeil was his older brother, that or his mom. it'd be a lie if jaemin were to say his heart didn't swell with adoration.

"uh, hello! earth to jaemin!" chenle exclaimed snapping jaemin out of his thoughts. the said boy looked up from his food only to huff at his friends "i have work later. my boss will get mad at me if i skip."

donghyuck rolled his eyes "it's one night, nana. i don't think he'd go batshit crazy over one night." to which jaemin put his attention on his food "and aren't you close to your boss anyways?"

"yes," jaemin sighed "but that doesn't mean he favors me more than any of the other employees."

"chenle," donghyuck looked at the chinese boy who hummed "that's me."

"do you smell that?"

jaemin looked at both boys a confused look on his face.

"smells like bullshit!" chenle yelled with a mischievous grin on his face, the expression seemingly being copied and pasted onto donghyuck's own.

jaemin raised an eyebrow "what makes you say that?"

"we've seen the way your boss communicates with you when we drop you off every now and then." donghyuck shrugged making jaemin's shoulders slouch.

chenle nodded along to what donghyuck was saying "mhmm, last week he literally was all sunshine and rainbows when he saw you."

that's when donghyuck was seemed to have been hit with some sort of realization.

it was as if a light bulb had gone off above his head, but it was a very old and dull one. the light definitely wasn't shining bright and would not bring to any sort of aid if put to use in a dark room in a house.

leaning over to whisper in chenle's ear like he was a child telling their deepest darkest secret to their best friend, he cupped his hands over it and began to tell him what he had figured out.

chenle was quick to react, throwing a hand over his mouth as he gasped dramatically.

and poor jaemin who was genuinely clueless to what donghyuck was telling chenle, frowned choosing to continue eating his lunch instead of  trying to figure out what secrets they were telling each other.

when both boys had finally regained their composture, donghyuck went to sit on jaemin's left while chenle stayed on the right. "na jaemin."
