the next day
Summer's POV:
I woke up the next morning to an excruciating headache. The constant buzz making it harder to think. My squinted eyes looked around, making me alert of my surroundings. I then remembered that I was kidnapped by robbers, how fabulous.
My warm feet hit the ice laminate flooring as I approached the en-suite. Today would be the day I escape. A shower might help this headache. Peeling off the clothes, I stood in the shower and washed my tired body. I thought through my escape plan over and over, double checking for any flaws. There were a few flaws, but they could be avoided.
I quickly got out of the shower and changed into appropriate clothing. I left the shower running, blocking out any noise that may occur.
I yanked open the window and slid my slim body through the gap. Coming outside without any shoes on was probably a really bad idea, but it's too late to go back. I wrapped my arms around myself, seeking any possible warmth. My thoughts trail off- What are my family doing? What is Tyler doing? What is Matty doing?
Wait, what?
Why would I think that?
I remember glimpse of what happened last night, but it just doesn't make sense. I mean, I took sleeping tablets. Well, at least I think I took sleeping tablets. Knowing that they are criminals, I wouldn't be surprised if they were drugs of some sort. I was probably high. The embarrassing moments of what took place last night constantly replay in my mind, making a deep blush take over my cheeks.
I continue strolling down the lane. Being in the middle of nowhere and not knowing where you're going is probably the second biggest flaw. The first being caught, again.
I wonder if anybody is looking for me, or even if they noticed I was gone.
My thoughts were cut short when a black SUV van slowed down besides me. You've gotta be kidding me. I quickened my stroll into a sprint.
My name was shouted, but this only made me run faster. I was not going to willingly go back to them. Adrenaline and fear pumped through my thick veins as I ran to the nearest escape: the forest.
This wasn't just any forest, legend has it that this very forest is haunted. Haunted as in ghosts, demons and deadly creatures. But i continued sprinting into the forest.
You know what they say.
YOLO.
I ran deeper into the forest until I was strangled by the deafening silence. I was surrounded by tall trees. The lowest branches dragged and twisted along the ground, unable to hoist themselves skywards. The fierce wind blew my hair around my face, covering my eyes and knotting my long, wavy hair. The deafening silence was agonising, not even the birds were chirping.
A sudden twig snap caught my attention, that's when I knew I was done for. All of the possible scenarios of what could happen next ran through my head quicker than a bullet.
kidnap
rape
murder
sold as a slave
used as a toy..
The list is endless.
"Looks like we're going to have to do this the hard way." Matty sniggered.
My wrists were roughly twisted behind my back and my legs were hoisted off the ground. Bulky hands harshly pulled my hair, forcing me to make eye-contact with my kidnapper. His eyes were no longer a warm honey colour, but a dark charcoal black - they looked demonic. I whimpered under his hard stare. A dull white cloth was shoved near my nose and mouth but I refused to breathe it in. I'm not stupid. I struggled and squirmed in the current position, hoping that they'll free me. The lack of oxygen become apparent, my steel grey eyes with flecks of sparkling blue starting to stream with salty tears.
"Breathe it in, it'll be easier for you and for me."Matty cooed in my ear.
I slumped my shoulders defeatedly and breathed in the deadly gas. Black swirls took over my eyesight, making me look balance and consciousness almost immediately. Just before I was too tired to function, I spoke. I looked dominantly into his eyes, making me like cat and him the mouse, even if it was just for a moment.
"I hate you." I whispered. Guilt and pain flashed in his eyes for a split second but it was then masked with frustration and anger. I remember seeing his eyebrows furrow just as I fell into a slumber.
