Summer's POV:
Trotting up the stairs, I thought about the night I spent with Matty. If I'm honest, I did really enjoy myself. Being cooped up in a house with nothing to do gets really boring after a few hours.
I took off my dress and put on my pyjamas. Who knew that going on a date could tire you out so much. I tied my hair in a top knot bun before slipping into the safe embrace of my bed.

I was woken up by screaming and shouting.
"No, don't say that!" Matty screamed.
I immediately ran towards the troubled voice and shook him.
"Matty." I prodded.
"Please don't say that." He whimpered. Matty was tossing and turning on the bed, forcing me to hold him in his sleep. Stray tears fell through his closed eyes, soaking his warm cheeks.
"Please. Come back. DELILAH!" Matty screamed.
Tears fell uncontrollably from Matty's closed eyes onto my arms. I held him close in my embrace and rocked him.
"Matty, wake up." I whispered.
Matty jolted from my embrace and was quick to point a small gun at my face.
"Woah, woah. Matty, it's me." I choked out. I was so shocked, this is the second time this has happened. Matty immediately dropped the gun and brought his arms around my body.
"I'm sorry." Matty muttered.
"It's okay." I replied. Matty held me tighter in his embrace. I was quick to return the hug. We sat there together on his bed, holding eachother tightly as if our lives depended on it.
"Do you want to talk about it?" I whispered. Matty was hesitant for a while but eventually nodded.
"Delilah was so young and beautiful. She had dark ringlets that stopped at her shoulders and ocean blue eyes that worked wonders when she pulled the puppy dog look. She was only 6 years old. Delilah was diagnosed with leukaemia when she was only 5.." Matty choked.
By now, my bed top was soaked, but I continued to soothe him in my embrace.
"Sh-She was so strong. She knew she was dying, but she'd always smile, just for the sake of me. She was such a fiesty 6 year old. I couldn't afford her to have the treatment she needed, it's all my fault. It's all my fault. She was 6, god dammit. She always told me that god had a special plan for her and that she wanted to be free. She fought for so long. She was always the one making me feel better, w-when it should've been the other way around."
"My baby sister is dead Summer. And it's all my fault." Matty sobbed violently in my arms.
"Shh, Matty. It's not your fault." I whispered. I stroked his hair gently and held him tightly in my arms. Matty gradually calmed down in my arms before falling limp, his head gently hitting the pillow. I rose from the bed, quietly tip-toeing towards the door.
"Please stay." Matty whispered. Nodding, I made my way to Matty's king-sized bed and timidly slid inside. Matty wrapped his arms around me and nuzzled his head in my neck, making me freeze.
"Goodnight Summer."
"Night Matty."
Eventually, I relaxed in his arms and gradually fell into a deep sleep.
Having Matty this close to me triggered something deep inside. I had been in this position with Matty before, but it only just clicked in. I knew one thing for sure, I needed to escape before I do something I regret and can't go back. Meaning, before I fall for Matty.
Tomorrow I will plan my escape.
