Summer's POV:
The car journey was quite long considering we were in a thick silence. My breathing quickened along with the speed of the car.
My heart was pounding in my chest like a fish out of water. I became panic-stricken in one sudden movement. The treacherous speed brought back so many unwanted memories. I felt the warm tears glide down my cheek, but I was too scared to let go off the handle to wipe them away.
"Stop the car! Stop the car!" I screamed.
The car breaks immediately slammed on, making me jerk forward in the seat.
The warm tears fell faster from my eyes, but they were tears of joy not panic. My apparent breathing slowed down back to normal until Matty decided to speak. He's just seen me re-live my past and now he probably thinks I'm a mentally troubled loon.
"Woah, are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. I'm sorry that you had to see that."
His soft fingers gently wiped away any evidence that I had been crying and placed his soft lips on my forehead.
"Do you want to ta-"
I cut him off mid-sentence. No way in hell am I telling him what happened. Only my mum and dad know, not even my best friend Savannah knows.
"No. Please can we drop the subject and just go shopping? Please?" I asked.
My question was followed out my Matty driving the car, but at a reasonable speed. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that I have panic attacks when I'm in a fast moving vehicle.
Many thoughts whirled around in my head as we pulled up at a new shopping centre that I haven't been in before. Hmm. The car door slammed shut, pulling my out of my thoughts.
The passenger door was pulled open, but before I could stand up, Matty pulled me out and laced our fingers. The tingling feeling overtook my body. Was it butterflies or nerves?
"I need to lay down the rules. One, act like a couple. Two, don't speak to anybody unless you're spoken to. Three, don't run off because I'll always find you. And four, don't make anybody suspicious. If this doesn't go as planned, we'll never go shopping again and you can live in my clothes. Capesh?" Matty's face was centimetres away from mine, making himself superior. If I wasn't so scared, I'd probably laugh, but instead I nodded.
"Come on." Matty's soft hands were enlaced with my own. For a moment, I felt a feeling of safety. It's ironic really, I mean, after all, he is the danger.
"What shop do you want to go in?" His voice was calm and collected. He seemed genuinely intrigued by my shopping interests.
"Erm, new look, forever 21, hollister, sports direct, river island and Victoria secret." I was hesitant to answer his question, not knowing how he was going to react.
Matty chuckled.
"Wow, that's a lot of shops for a little girl.""Excuse me, I am not little." I retaliated.
"Are you sure about that princess?"
"Yeah, 5"8 is not small at all. How tall are you?"
"Hm, I guess I stand corrected. But what are you like 16? And I'm 25." He replied sassily. Oh, it's on.
"What?! That's so old. Actually, I'm 18, 19 on the 17th." I exclaimed. "And I'm not sure whether being thought to be 16 is a compliment or an insult."
Being 25 isn't actually that old, but I had to have some dirt on him. I won't let him win that easily.
"25 is not old. Hmm 18, so you're legal then?" His cheeky comment caught me off guard but I covered it up with a donkey-like laugh. Matty hip-bumped me, making me burst into laughter yet again. You know, everybody has that one friend who laughs like an animal and if you don't, it's probably you. Matty's laugh was like soft but upbeat music to my ears.
