Summer's POV:

My eyes and head were aching from all the screaming and crying. I opened my heavy-eyelids to be faced with the leaking sunlight. What's the point of having curtains, if the light can still get through? My body was curled in a ball, making my look like a frail little girl who had a nightmare.

A dead weight was laying around my waist. Sighing, I knew it was Matty. The routine had happened more than twice now. I'd have a nightmare and he'd sing to me until I fell into a slumber, and when I woke up the next morning in his bed, his arm would be wrapped around my waist in a protective manner. Metaphorically, he's my security blanket; keeping me safe from all the demons that lurk inside my head. Keeping me from insanity.

Knowing that I had to keep up my side of the bargain, I wanted to go into a permanent hibernation. I gently pried Matty's arm from around me and tiptoed to my own bedroom.

I gathered up some fresh clothes and turned the dial on in the shower, waiting for it to reach the perfect temperature. Whilst I was waiting, I thought about how to approach the upcoming conversation with Matty.

The humid steam from the shower pulled me out of my thoughts. I stood in the shower washing away all of my problems. I scrubbed my body with peach body wash and massaged my scalp with peach shampoo and conditioner. I guess you could say I like the smell of peaches. I shaved my legs quickly and wrapped a towel around my body, letting my long, dark hair stick to my body.

Putting on my clean lingerie and clothes, I wondered how I was going to face the inevitable. Matty obviously wasn't going to drop the subject. Maybe he'd forget or something.

The loud sound of my stomach grumbling pulled me out of my thoughts. I laughed at the inhuman noise that erupted from my stomach and walked down the stairs into the kitchen to make food. I prepared some chocolate chip pancakes and a mixed berry smoothie; enough for me and Matty. Maybe if I be a sweat and suck up to him, he'll be so shocked by my actions that he'll completely forget about my past.

My past is something that should stay untouched. Nobody wants to relive a daunting past. It's in the name: 'past', you've moved past it and it should stay were it belongs. You should live in the present, look forward to the future and forget the past. Well, that's what I think anyway.

"Summer?!" Matty bellowed.

"In the kitchen." I shouted back.

Matty came tumbling in the kitchen, tripping on his own feet.

"Hi." Matty giggled, fumbling with his hands. He resembled a teenage girl talking to her crush.

I couldn't hold my laughter in for any longer. My shoulders shook as I silently laughed, tears streaming down my face uncontrollably. It wasn't even that funny, but I managed to burst into hysterics. My inhuman laughter was infectious, the great booming sound of his laughter echoing in the kitchen.

It wasn't even what he said, it's how he said it. Me and Matty were laughing so hard now. You know that laugh were it gets silent at the end because you're laughing so hard? Matty was laughing like that, making me laugh harder and clutch my stomach. I couldn't even breathe because I was choking on my laughter. My whole stomach was hurting from the constant noise erupting from my stomach. I can't remember the last time I laughed like that with anybody, not even my parents and close friends.

"I'm glad I made you laugh." Matty spoke.

"Yeah. Yeah, me too." I spoke sincerely.

Matty looked over my shoulder and smiled.

"I see you made breakfast for us."

"Yeah, something like that. We need to eat them before the chocolate chips go solid again. They always taste better when the chocolate chip is melted." I ranted.

"Blueberry pancakes are better than chocolate chip."

"What? Are you joking me?!" I exclaimed. No way were blueberry pancakes better than chocolate chip. Blueberry pancakes taste sickly after a few mouthfuls.

"Nope. Blueberry for the win." Matty stated.

The sound of scraping chairs, and the irritating sound of knifes and forks screeching across the china plates were the only noise in the silence until I spoke up.

"When I was younger, I went the theme park with my cousin and we had blueberry muffins and energy drink and we went on this ride that spun and I was sick like 4 times." I conversed.

"Wow. So I'm guessing you like theme parks?" Matty's sarcastic comment was laced with enthusiasm making me smile. I nodded in reply and finished eating my breakfast.

"What do you wanna do today?" He asked me.

"Erm, watch films?"

"Sounds good. Let me get dressed and you put the movie in and grab some snacks." Matty commanded.

Scurrying to the kitchen, I searched for food. Popcorn, sweets, ice-cream and Pepsi. Yum. Watching films seems like the only thing I've been doing this past one and a half weeks. I need to be more productive. I chose the film despicable me and waited patiently for Matty on the sofa.

"Summer?" Matty called for my attention.

"Mm."

"You know you've still got to keep up your half of the deal, right?"

My shoulders slumped in defeat.

"I was hoping you'd forget." I spoke in an audible whisper. Speaking about my difficult past isn't easier at all.

"I know you don't want to, but it'll make it easier for both of us and who knows, maybe telling someone could help you." Matty's voice was calm but I knew he wasn't going to drop the subject.

"I know, but I don't understand why you want to know about my past so much."

"I'm infatuated by you. You intrigue me Summer, like nobody ever has before." He whispered strongly.

His words hit my strong in the heart, making me eyes fill with salty tears. Although they didn't fall, I knew he cared and deserved to know my story.
