I must go! I must go!
Mayu did not want to be late for the show. She ran as far as she could and this was her chance! Her chance at a better life. Away from her nonchalant father, ill mother, and abusive sister. She left without a trace. She knew deep down inside they wouldn't notice, but she pushed the negative away and applied to join the circus! It sounded like something out of a fairy tale, but it was more than real.
Tears streamed down Mayu's pale face as she cried into the night, never to return home. Her heart pounded and her feet ached, but she didn't care. She was running to where the pain couldn't reach her. The pain would leave her, and be no more, and she would be whole again. Everything would be good, and she could finally say "The End"
She reached the tent in the woods. She slowly walked into it. It was empty, barren, but looked in top notch conditions.
This is the place, right? Was she being tricked? Surely she wasn't, for circuses are wonderful and cheerful and all the little children come to see the performance! And that's really all Mayu wanted to do: Was to make people happy.
"Hello?" she called out. "Coming , coming!" from around the corner she saw a lantern illuminated the red and white striped walls, casting the eeriest of shadows.
The shadows were huge and bore long legs. Surely it was the affect of the lantern, she thought. From around the corner came two very...unusual sights. Two women, one dressed in blue and the other in purple. They were almost as tall as the tent itself.
"My, you're very skilled with stilts!" she said to them.
"Why, thank you." The blonde one bowed. The other one, dressed in purple, cowered behind the blonde one. Her silver hair and eyes made her look life less. It made Mayu feel uneasy and shiver.
"Please, come this way Miss." they led her out of the tent and out back. It was covered in train carts and props. Mayu began to feel a little more uneasy.
"You want to be in the show?" The blonde one asked.
Mayu nodded. "Yes ma'am."
"What's your act?"
"I do trapeze, ma'am."
"Sign this." she pulled a scroll from out of her blue coat and handed it to Mayu. She skimmed though it.
"Contract blah blah liabilities blah blah" She didn't care!! She signed it with a big smile and they led her to a lonely train cart behind all of the other ones.
They held the lantern behind her just enough for her to see. She could barely make out the silhouettes of other people. "Sleep." The silver haired woman said monotonously, and she slammed the cart door. It startled Mayu a little, and she was very confused on why she had to sleep in a cart. Maybe they'd have a room for her in the morning. She did come a little late after all.
She tried to make some room and fell asleep on something nice and soft. Her new life was about to begin, and all her peaceful thoughts led her sleep.
-.-.-.-
She woke up to the light viciously burning through the cracks of the wooden train carts. She looked down and realized she had fallen asleep on someone's leg.
"I'm terribly sorry." she said, sitting up. She then faced the person. They were very peculiar looking. They had white hair and wore a sort of dress.
How strange. She looked around her and saw that everyone was asleep. Who were these people? Did they work in the circus too?
She saw so many strange looking people. One had stitches in its head, the other covered in bandages. Two girls dressed completely in black, white, and purple were curled up with one another. A girl in a beautiful pink dress, only her legs...were backwards? Her knees had been surgically moved to be backwards, and protruded through her skin almost completely, making her leg skin translucent and all of her vains extremely prominent. She began to get a little freaked out. There were two blonde haired children covered in dark, inky stitches. It was as thought their stitched had been dyed. An older woman with horn coning out her head. Mayu's breathing began to stagger.
What intrigued her the most was a boy dressed completely in red and white. She crawled over to him and examined him. Part of his face looked as though it was cracked. His choppy, uneven bangs covered one of his eyes.
Mayu gulped and slowly moved his bang out of the way. A strange, red light peeked through the hairs, and Mayu was more than curious. She slowly to raised the bang up, to be met with a blood red eye. She squeeled and covered her mouth, slowly shooting away from him. His eyes brows furrowed and his eyes slowly fluttered open. Mayu began to almost hyperventilate as both of the eye opened wide.
"Ahh, Morning. Quick question, who are you? "
