"How long has she been out for?"
"About a week or so. If she doesn't wake up soon, we'll have to postpone our next show."V sighed. Mayu's body had been in the bathtub full of ice in the dressing room for a week now. At first, her body was a mangled mess. Luka was the first to smell the smoke. Fukase knew immediately what to do with her body.
They didn't know exactly who'd started the fire, but they had a good guess. Slowly, but surely, her skin was healing, and by now she'd looked good as new.
The days without Mayu began to feel solemn and grim. They sky remained a light, hazy gray. The makeshift windows of the huge tent let in natural light. Everything was bright, but gray. Time didn't even seem to pass anymore. It was just existing in the days, and starting over and over. Waiting. Patience being slowly eaten away.
"Al...?"
"Hm, yes?"
"What do you think Mayu...is?"
Al hesitated, and made V even more anxious.
"At first, I thought she was just a regular acrobat. But after being frozen, and now burned alive, I'm not very sure...." He began to get lost in thought.
V sighed, and slowly began to walk out of the dressing room. Flower was arena, waiting for her. Flower seemed even more worried.
"Is she better?"
"Much better, but we still don't know when she's going to wake up, and Fukase urged us to let her wake up on her own."
"I'm worried we have to postpone the show...all Luka has eaten is fruit."
"Luka will be fine. I'm more worried about Fukase. He seems so stressed..."
The curtain of the tent flailed open. They both turned to see Piko, rushing towards them.
"Piko! What's going on?" Flower yelped as Piko grasped onto her shoulders, out of breath.
"Fukase he's.....he's"
V's heart sank. "What, Piko?! What happened?"
Piko looked up at her with tears in his eyes. His voice was loud and shakey. "He's fighting master!"♡♥♡♥♡
When they reached the abandoned train carts, everyone was already there. They weren't trying to stop it anymore; they could only watch in horror. Nothing could stop Fukase once he had his mind set. Master and Fukase had been fighting for a while. It was a fairly one-sided fight, Fukase taking blow after blow. He grit his teeth and beared it, he looked completely determined.
"Fukase, what are you doing?!" V yelled.
"He..he wants to wake up Mayu!"
His voice sounded so strained. Watching broke V's heart. She knew there was nothing she could do.
"If he wakes her up..she'll..she could-."
He was cut off by a massive blow to the head. He didn't get back up. Everyone began to panic, rushing to his side. V remained in her spot. She hated the numb feeling in her chest. That feeling of hopelessness and despair.
Master went up to her, looking extremely satisfied. "V, come with me. Let us bring her back." V slowly nod, holding back tears. She silently followed him back to the main tent.
He led her into the dressing room, and loomed over Mayu in the bathtub. She looked new, her skin shiny and waxy from being in the melted ice. He grabbed her by the arm and slowly began to pull her up. Her eyes slowly began to flutter. While pulling her up, there was a sudden crack. V gasped as Mayu's eyed shot open. She tried to speak.
"I...I-."
