The Show

         The cast made their way to the big tent, standing on the sides, preparing to make their way into the arena. Mayu looked over the bleachers. There were so many people that some sat on top of eachother. Some people even sat inside of the bleachers and looked on in between the rows. Mayu gulped. The lights were alaborate, but being so close made it blinding.
This was it. This was the moment she'd been waiting for. Even though she was starving and anxious and cold, she found happiness within it all. She almost shed a tear.
The other performers made it into the arena gracefully, making the crowds go wild. The lights went out, and the muttering and laughter roared.

The elegant music began to play, and Luka was up and front. Mayu spotted Gakupo deep working the crowd. He looked at his wife with such passion in his eyes. Now Mayu understood. She saw how they all kept it together. Her heart was hammering in her chest. She couldn't take her eyes off of the show. It was absolutely mesmerizing.
Once the first song had finished, the spotlight landed on the dancers and contortionists. Their clothes glistened in the light. The crowd was in absolute awe. It felt like a fairy tale.
          Miku joined Luka at the front. The crowd gasped. Miku's legs were visible. They were a horrible sight, but Mayu turned her focus away from them. She only focused on the light. The beauty of it.
      Mayu couldn't keep her eyes off of the contortionists. And a certain contortionist at that. Fukase looked happy. Genuinely happy. Mayu began to breath harder. She didn't know what it was she felt.
Then, V and Flower ascended the trapeze ladder. This was her time. She cartwheeled into the arena from the side, and the entire crowd gasped and began cheering even more. Mayu smiled from ear to ear.
V swept her up and clung tightly to her waist. V's breath on Mayu's neck made her shiver.
"Are you ready?" V whispered.
Mayu didn't answer. She couldn't. She felt like nothing else mattered but this moment.

V lifted off, and Flower was ready to catch her. Mayu lifted off, in the air she felt weightless. She was going to to catch Flower's arms, but she slipped. The growd gasped. Everything was going down.
