{Vocaloid} Where the Odd Ones Lie

Arrival (2nd day)

I didn't think going two days without really eating anything would be so painful. Everyone was extremely sluggish and exhausted , and master didn't bring us any water until noon. Everyone was pretty silent , so it gave me time to think.

    I couldn't help but think of the women on the stilts. I haven't seen even a trace of them since my first day. Last night , the eerie intruder wore purple just like one of the women on the stilts. However their eyes weren't red like hers. They were also purple.

    The thought of the figure creeped her out a lot. She noticed  how everyone began circling around Luka. She seemed more tired and weak then usual. Miku remained calm , however . Even with her bad eyesight, she still managed to be very calm and smart. Fukase sighed and sat with Mayu. "We're all just so worried about her. We couldn't bare watch anything bad happen to her or the baby."
Mayu smiled slightly. "I'm glad to see you all protecting her like that ."

"Well, of course. She's family. And on top of that , it's always been one of her dreams."

"What has?"

"When I first met Luka a few years ago, she was love striken . She had a husband , and she'd sneak out to go see him since he doesn't live far from the circus. She was brave and bold and didn't let anything get in her way except master. All she wanted to do was settle down in a nice house with her husband and spend her time tending to her little babies. And now her wish is so close to coming true, and we will do everything to make sure she's okay."

Mayu frowned . His whole inspirational speech became boring.

"How do you all do it?"

"Whatd'ya mean ?"

"Stay all positive all the time? Everything has come to madness, and you all speak so happily. "

Fukase stopped to think for a minute. He didn't look mad, just confused .

"Why should we be sad? We're in a tough situation, and we keep our feelings bottled up. There's no point letting even more negativity out."

"Why, that's quite unhealthy ."

"What in the world are you talking about?"

"Keeping your feelings in like that ? That's the worst thing you could do right now. I declare , one day you'll find yourself all rotten on the inside because you kept that stuff in."

Fukase tensed. Rotten. Why did she have to have that word ?

He chuckled a bit. "Well, Miss Mayu, you're certainly right. I am all rotten inside. I've been this way for a mighty long time."

She huffed and crossed her arms.
"I mean figuratively." she said, rolling her eyes.

"No, Miss Mayu. I mean literally."

Mayu's face went blank. She took a deep breath and kept her composer.
She smiled. "Whatever you say, dear." She stood up, fluffed her petticoats, and went over to Luka.
Luka looked far weaker than usual. He was pale and lay on the hard wooden floor breathing very hard. Mayu sat with her and looked at her with pity.
"Luka, are you alright?" she said, grasping one of Luka's hands. They were clammy. Luka began to tense up.
"Yes, I'll be fine. I could just use a little water. You needn't worry, we're almost there."

Mayu nodded and looked over everyone. Everyone looked lively instead of the Flower sisters, for they were fast Asleep.
. "I don't see how they can sleep at this time of hour." Mayu said, mostly to herself. "Oh, that's easy," Luka began,"You see, the Flower sisters must have lots of rest before each show to make sure that if they make any error, they'll be able to heal themselves." she said it as though Mayu were supposed to understand it. She simply shrugged it off and decided to go with it.

        Suddenly, the cart came to a sudden stop, julting everyone from one side of the cart to another. Mayu scraped her arms on the rugged wooden cart, and so did many others.
"I guess....we're here." she panted, tying to regain her balance.

  The place was beautiful. Their tent was even bigger than the one back at hone, and in front of it was an abundance of apple trees. Everyone ran straight towards the apple trees leaving Mayu to help Luka. To her surprise, Luka was smiling.
      "What is it, Luka?" Mayu asked. Luka laughed a bit under her breath. "Nothing. I just know today is going to be a very good day."
